yeah, It gets old seeing people put factually substantiated and entirely reasonable claims on the same shelf as "moon landing fake tho" simply because they don't personally think it happened or it goes against mainstream narrative. Unfortunately though, how the word "conspiracy" is used ("I don't think this thing is true") has deviated quite far from the connotation it has. (a thing which is completely and unilaterally absurd and false with such high confidence you can reasonably ignore it) I mean, a few weeks ago (maybe months now) a political associate was found dead in a forest that he had no personal connection to, having "committed suicide" with a shotgun blast *_to the chest_* (not the mouth) AND, yes, AND, a noose around his neck, hanging from makeshift gallows that he supposedly went out of his way to get materials for and construct, using an extension cord as a noose. (so he got wood and shit for gallows, but couldnt be bothered to find a rope for a noose) And that's definitely a suicide, and if you say anything else you're a conspiracy theorist.

Yeah, Ken is a bit of an Apple fanboy, and it's easy to tell when he just brushes planned obsolescence under the rug like it doesn't even exist. There's a reason people say "they don't make em like they used to" -- and this goes for most if not all manufacturers, not just Apple. Mobile phones are one of the worst for it, these companies make money selling you new phones every year, not selling you one phone for you to use for the next 10 years.

"The updates are part of the planned obsolescence, causing your device to act up". This part is absolute truth. EDIT: To clarify, software updates will break your device's functionality when a company wants you to upgrade. This was started by Microsoft, and is now in place with many companies. Windows Millennium worked perfectly fine as long as it was never updates. Same with Vista. Android phones will remain fast as long as updates are disabled. Is your phone slow? Quick Charge 3 is actually robust enough that always charging on a QC3 charger has no appreciable affect on battery lifespan in real world applications. A legit claim that would actually improve battery life would be that the charger is super slowly charging your phone overnight at like 2% per 10minutes ( 6*2 = 12% per hour, 8h of sleep *12% per hour = 96%). The last few percentages are being charged at normal speed the last half hour before you set your wake up alarm (or when you start using your phone before that alarm). Something like this would be a lot better and actually work.

I'm not sure how many generations back this feature goes, but iPhones from at least the 11 onward have a feature where they'll learn when you normally unplug them from the charger. They'll stop charging at 80%, and then resume charging in time to finish right before you'd normally unplug it. I think it's absurd that you can't set that time manually, but it's a nice feature nonetheless.

The first time I saw an ad on this product, I thought “huh, neat” and moved on. Second time I caught that “mobile company legal teams trying to stop this,” I thought if they were, they’re basically admitting that the planned obsolescence IS real, effectively shooting themselves in the foot. So I did some searching and found this video.

I think they updated the ad recently because they no longer show the charger at the start of the video, and they also added a section that claims that the charger contains "advanced AI" that "reprograms your operating system to peak efficiency" or some such similar nonsense.

I was going to say thank you for helping the boomers avoid these scams, but so much of your content is well beyond boomer protection, I LOVE scam busting, and checking out dodgy products. So thank you, and well done. (Subscribed).

Ken, the one thing I didn't like about this video was your dismissiveness towards the class action lawsuit against Apple Yes $25 is practically meaningless, but it's about sending a message to Apple and any other tech giant, telling them that they can't get away with non-transparent bs.
@Alexlfm3 жыл бұрын
It had other advantages beyond that as well in that it forced Apple into actually replacing the faulty batteries for free instead of charging and refunding those unfortunate enough to have paid when their phone was still under warranty. This wasn’t just a normal degradation issue, it was a fault that often occurred well within one year of ownership. I was lucky in that I know batteries and told the store manager that if he would put it in writing that the battery wasn’t bad after he saw the phone immediately power off, then I would pay and promptly sue. Unfortunately many people paid them the full price before this change not knowing better. If Apple didn’t make these changes you can bet the payout would of been a LOT more then $25.

At 2:12 Planned obsolescence conference.... There WAS such a conference!! In the 19 teens....about light bulbs. Group lightbulb manufacturers got together and chose to cooperate in manufacturing their light bulbs more cheaply so that they did not last as long. There was charged has brought, and convictions dealt out....but the damage was already done. If that joker was there at the conference, he's a really old man by now!!!!

As a flip, could you review top of the line official chargers and products as a one off vid? We bought a new iPad and the charger that came with it seems amazing, so would love to see a cost comparison :D
@TrigramThunder3 жыл бұрын
If you like the performance of that charger I would recommend you buy more of them for your phones and or other devices that are compatible with that charging speed apart from your ipad.

I'm calling it now. With how deep he dives into scams, in 5 years we'll see Ken actually wearing a tinfoil hat and when he says "Let's just take our tinfoil hats off." he'll still do the gesture and continue wearing it the entire video. Haha.

Thank you for doing videos like this. When I saw an ad for this product show up prior to a KZbin video I was watching my first thoughts were "this is complete bullshit". Doing a search for the product brought *your* video up at the top of the search results. Garbage products like this are why I run a Adblock for KZbin on my Desktop machines... because the overwhelming number of ads running on youtube these days are exactly like the one for this product.
