Mate, I cant thank you enough for this video. This made autofs clearer than a sunny day in Torridon. Many thanks. Cheers

Sir, After I restart the autofs service and enable it I am no longer able to su into my user account. I have created quite a few virtual machines and this happened for everyone I made.

Great JOB! I think your tutorial on RHCSA is the most specific and concise out there! I hope I can pass with your help@@. One question, for mounting nfs through /etc/fstab, I have read from some other books that _netdev is needed instead of defaults, but I am not sure.

I had a quick look around and on the offical Red Hat website it doesn't request it: www.redhat.com/sysadmin/nfs-server-client. Hope that helps!

You need defaults. _netdev In fstab so that nfs starts after networkin

is that for loop really necessary? cant you just do chown -r user1:user1 on the directory?

Whats the difference between configuring from /etc/auto.master and /etc/auto.master/home.autofs And I understand what the for loop accomplished, I just don't get why, don't all previous files automatically get matched to the new UID assigned to the username ?
@compsecgadgets
@compsecgadgets 4 жыл бұрын
No difference between the two it's just a cleaner way to manage things. Usermod doesn't handle the UID change for your files so you'll need to for loop to update the UID on your files.

@@compsecgadgets so glad that's the case, it was driving me nuts trynna figure out what was the difference. And I guess the for loop makes perfect sense now.

Hi, I recently took the RHCSA8 exam and there was a question which asked me to configure autofs and also I was given a password. I don't know what to do with the server's password while configuring autofs. Can you please explain me if there is any use of server's password while configuring autofs.
@compsecgadgets
@compsecgadgets 3 жыл бұрын
If its asking for a password you can specify it like in the mount definition with an extra option: ,credentials=/etc/filename.txt where filename.txt contains the following: username=user1 password=Password123!

Why do you use dnf and not yum?
@compsecgadgets
@compsecgadgets 3 жыл бұрын
Dnf is the future replacement for yum, recommended using that going foward

can you help me on the steps on how to address this question Debug SELinux - configure and troubleshoot httpd server - site must be able access by end user (servera:82)
@serhatelmas9038
@serhatelmas9038 3 жыл бұрын
I explain. Step 1: First, set the port number /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file. You'll see "Listen 80" in httpd.conf file and set to 82 via editor. Step2: run command as root: # semanage port -a -t http_port_t -p tcp 82 # firewall-cmd --add-port=82/tcp --permanent # firewall-cmd --reload # systemctl restart httpd.service

I wonder, how you are able to run AutoFS without the nfs-utils-package.... ;-) This cannot work!
