Hi, I'm so grateful for your complete presentation but I have a question about the contact definition in your parameter section you define two additional parameters without using them such as SLC, in my opinion, the contact part may need to add a branch like friction or adhesion please if any section missed let me know yours faithfully

Thank you so much for your kind words and for your detailed observation! You’re correct in noting that I defined additional parameters like SLC, which were not explicitly used in this particular model. Sometimes, I prepare parameters in advance for possible extensions or future adjustments, but they weren’t necessary for the contact definition in this case. Regarding contact forces, if you’re simulating more complex behaviors like friction or adhesion, you’re right that adding those elements would improve the accuracy. You can go to the Contact Pair settings and enable Friction or Adhesion in the Contact branch under the Solid Mechanics module. These additional settings will allow you to define the coefficient of friction or adhesion forces as needed for your simulation. Thanks again for pointing that out!

This was so useful! I have a case where I want to split part of these surfaces and add electrostatics solvers to part of the hyperelastic material surface. What's a good way to join them? Would I use an identity pair definition on the connected boundaries to tell comsol that it's one piece with different dielectric properties in different places? Thanks again! So helpful!
@LearnwithSAI

I have no experience like what you are asking. Yes, it seems more pragmatic to use identity pair definition for two layers. If I come across anything relevant to your problem, I will share it with you. Many thanks for the appreciation 🙏🏼

Thank you for great presentation. Could you do a simulation where the plate is piezoelectric material PZT-5A? Like checking the electrical potential difference caused by the ball collision.
@LearnwithSAI
@LearnwithSAI 12 күн бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! That’s a great suggestion! Simulating a piezoelectric material like PZT-5A and analyzing the electrical potential difference caused by a ball collision would be a very interesting project. I’ll definitely consider creating a tutorial on that in the future. In the meantime, you can start by using the Piezoelectric Devices module in COMSOL to define the material properties of PZT-5A and couple the Solid Mechanics with Electrostatics to capture the electrical response due to mechanical impact.

Thank you for this clear presentation. However, when I tried this example myself, Comsol generated an error during computation: 'Feature: Stationary Solver 1 (sol1/s1) Failed to find a solution for all parameters, even when using the minimum parameter step. No convergence, relative stepsize too small. Returned solution is not converged. Not all parameter steps returned'. Did you use specific parameters for the solver, or a specific solver? You video did not cover that in detail. Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your comment. I need to check my solver settings but I think it is auto-generated settings after you press compute button. Please try with a bit finer mesh. I will check the solved model and come back to you soon.

Really useful video , may i know what does the hyperelastic materials correspond to ? which materials ? or materials parameters comes from thanks ~~
@LearnwithSAI
@LearnwithSAI Жыл бұрын
Thanks. The hyper-elasticity of a material is defined with young modulus that contains further parameters commonly known as lamé parameters. These parameters define the hyper-elasticity of your material and their mathematical expression contain E in it.

have you started with model wizard or blank model if started with model wizard then which option should be selected
@LearnwithSAI

You can go with either way, if you select model wizard then in the next step select 3D. OR if you go with blank wizard then you can select 3D from model component option.

I just want to replace the rectangle with spiral shaped 2 d shape.can u suggest which shape can I go for
@LearnwithSAI
@LearnwithSAI 12 күн бұрын
Thank you for your question! To replace the rectangle with a spiral-shaped 2D structure, you can use the Parametric Curve feature in COMSOL. This allows you to define a spiral geometry by using parametric equations. For a simple spiral, you can set the radius as a function of the angle (e.g., 𝑟 = 𝑎 + 𝑏 ⋅ 𝜃).
