When I worked at a body shop I bought a 08 Yukon fully loaded, little bit of rust, but not terrible for the area, belonged to a lady with a past in "illegal recreational activity" sat in the impound lot we had for a good year, ran great, but the catch is in Ohio, when we file for a title of a surrendered car unfortunately it always comes back as a salvage title. Insurance charges alot around here for those, but not a bad way to get a good car for $500

When I was divorced with a big auto/welding shop to move 1000miles away to my new home. Moving quotes were too high! Bought a well used 350K mile Cat powered 2006 F650 lift gated 26ft box truck....named her “Betsy”.....one great truck! One of the best purchases I ever did....cost 1/3 of what a moving company had quoted me to do a shop move with 2 car lifts broken down by myself.....

And you were lucky to have got it that much and that he knew what he was able to give you to start with. Back in the 80s there was an aluminum contractor around Ocala Florida who was exactly like "Jim". I'm talking about during the Post Carter economy and everyone was struggling. This dudes Over 90 days balance was astronomical. The coolest car I've ever seen was a 65ish blown small block valient 4 door, tubbed and caged. Not one fuck was given about what it looked like. Probably around 85 in San Jose. And there was a Hemi dart drop top in the area too. That's when Ron Jenkins was running the streets in his 3rd Gen charger and a no mozda or something dart. Good times.

Had a red headed classmate who dropped out of school somewhere along the way. The next I heard of him was maybe ten years later, a highway patrolman was telling us that he was on the highway about dawn one morning when a DC3 cargo plane landed on the highway in front of him. He assumed the plane had problems and made an emergency landing. The plane taxied off into a field and shut off its motors. The patrolman then heard some trucks in the nearby woods start their motors and leave. My classmate was in the pilot's seat but couldn't get out because the bales of marijuana were stacked in such a way that he couldn't get to the door. He didn't go to jail. Maybe five years later, same place, same time, same plane, same patrolman, same pilot. This time they caught some of the trucks. Class mate went to jail. Maybe 5 years later I saw that classmate get out of a limo at a fancy restaurant. FAA has no record of him. His sister doesn't know where he is.

I'm a bicycle guy. I have not even had a licences for the last 15 year (a ticket for 136mph in a 55 helped that). As a bike mechanic and understanding how things work I will not pay someone to repair anything for me unless the tools cost more than paying for the job (rebuild bottom end of a motor example) or the finish look is beyond what I feel I can do (finish bodywork and paint for example). I am NOT a salesman. I am too quiet, not forward enough, not funny enough. I envy the experience of your life as a salesman.
