I’ve been to Senegal if you just go out of the capital where some western businessmen normally are you start going to towns where everybody looks at you (and wants to sell you something because you are “obroni” or “rich white man”).

We use balance rings that's placed on the head and the weight sits on it. The heavier the load the easier it is to balance. Your walking style is also very important. I see some women in parts of Asia with the same practice too.
