10:14 Conan’s camera awareness is so evident in that story. In the tighter 2-shot with Jimmy, he uses his left hand to “headlock” the guy. But when he stands up, and it’s real wide, he uses his right, so as not to block Jimmy. He also pauses briefly as he stands up to allow the zoom to catch up with him and his bit. A masterclass in visual storytelling.

Whether it was in this interview, on Hot Ones, or just in general, what I love about Conan can be best summarized by this: He gets it, man. He just GETS it. He understands the talk show business and show business in general. He's camera aware. He knows what the audience wants. They want a show, they want entertainment, but they also want something sincere and real. He has a bit or has a really funny joke in response to a question, but then he will also have a serious answer. Or he'll tell a joke buried within a serious answer. Like the answer to the question about how it feels coming back into his old building and visiting his old studios. Within his answer is a serious and profound feeling of no longer belonging, being saddened by change and having someone else in his old studio, but also a fond feeling of nostalgia. But then there's a hilarious and over the top bit about yelling at Kelly Clarkson lol. He's just always so unapologetically Conan. He dominates the space and he's such a good interviewer. Rare is someone like Conan who can make the host feel like the guest on their own show.
