I'm glad to hear it! The lore is super under-appreciated, it's one of the richest parts of the game
@BraveSirPaul3 күн бұрын
@@Eradicati0nn I think because it is so easy to miss. From what I heard there was a lore stone journey at one stage (is that true). Would be cool to have that put back into the game to highlight the rich history the devs built into it
@Eradicati0nn3 күн бұрын
@@BraveSirPaul The old journey system was a lot more expositional about the story, which helped with comprehension, but also had some issues with how it displayed/explained things, and it didnt' really suit the storytelling style. Conan is similar to a Souls title in that the story is everywhere, you just have to dig it up

I always assumed the Lemurians were behind the freezing of the North to keep the presumably cold-blooded Serpentmen trapped inside the volcano.
@Eradicati0nn3 күн бұрын
Interesting theory tbh, it makes sense of the face of it. There doesn't seem to be anything on the Lemurian side mentioning the formation of The Disjunction, but the theory is pretty solid
@Raurie43 күн бұрын
@@Eradicati0nn perhaps it's a case of the giant kings made it and the Lemurians found the place, deciding to use it for there own ends. Im still a bit confused on the time line as im unsure when the map room was built (im pretty sure you said a rough time line in the video but it's a lot to absorb all at once)
@Eradicati0nn3 күн бұрын
@@Raurie4 The Giant Kings could have potentially frozen the north to make it more difficult for the Lemurians to hold Xullan, but there's very little evidence for any side being responsible unfortunately. The map room was likely made somewhere around the start of the Lemurian Uprising, but that is a bit of conjecture, it's more of an educated guess. The Warmaker seems to hint that the slaves were only taken around the start of the war, thus the Map Room would have been made around that time frame, roughly
@nigelis23453 күн бұрын
@@Eradicati0nn I have a theory on that location. The Disjunction always existed in that area and was originally under the control of the Frost Giants. The Giant Kings who worship Set were at war with the Frost Giants who worshiped Ymir. The Frost Giants who lived near the Disjunction had the advantage at first but as Set worshipers are masters at Sorcery, the Giant Kings defeated the Frost Giants and sealed the disjunction. This would have unfrozen/changed the land at the time. When the Serpentmen left Siptah and settled in the Volcano, they allied with the Giant Kings as both were worshippers of Set but did not interfere with each other. Then when the Lumerians settled in the Jungles of the Exile Lands, they explored the north to expand as their population was growing and needed more room. When they discovered the Serpentmen in the Volcano, they asked the Giant Kings to aid them in exterminating the Serpentmen as the Serpentmen had enslaved humanity in the past but the Giant Kings refused. This led to the war between the Lemurians and the Giant Kings. As the Giant Kings started enslaving the Lemurian captives, those that were still free discovered the sealed Disjunction and unsealed it in an attempt to gain the aid of the Frost Giants to help in the War.

@@Eradicati0nnI'm at work so I wasn't paying strict attention, but is there anything that says the Disjunction was created after the Lemurians arrived in the lands of the Giant Kings? Perhaps the Giant Kings accidentally created it well before the arrival of the Witch Queen and her people and, even though there is a lorestone placed to warn people away from the area, the Lemurians more or less accidentally utilized it? In scouting further afield maybe it was super accidentally and someone who had a passing faith in Ymir experienced the heat of even being near the volcano and thought, "By Ymir's frosty balls its hot up here, what I wouldn't give for a bit of ice."

I quite like how damaged the world is now, but I've thought for a while that an alternative version of The Exiled Lands would be really interesting to play on. Could tie into the source material too, as there is a story where Red Sonja and Conan travel back in time to Acheron through the mirrors of Tuzun Thune, which interestingly enough, were polished in the Well of Skelos

I feel like it's also worth noting that starmetal also only falls in the vicinity of the Disjunction.
@Eradicati0nn3 күн бұрын
It is, though my issue was what exactly the meteors are tied to outside of the game elements of difficult area = high-level resources. It's possible they're connected to some form of Outer Dark shenanigans due to where they fall on Siptah too, but it's circumstantial at best from what I've seen
@redmage7773 күн бұрын
@@Eradicati0nn One of the primary uses for black ice is the refining of hardened steel and star metal perhaps they were summoned to that area to facilitate the manufacturing of star metal? Sorcerers do summon meteors during purges, seem possible that ancient sorcerers (Of the type who would create the Disjunction.) would be able to automate the spell. This could also explain the origin of a lot of the Legendary weapons, They do break down into star metal when dismantled.

I think the "clash of sorceries" is either 1. The beginning salvo of the war between the Lemurian explorers who went north and the Giant Kings Or 2. Giant Kings vs. Serpentmen, who were pushed back to the volcano, with the freezing being the result of the thoughts of the Lemurian explorers. They had expected snow capped mountains after all.

It's very possible, there are a few spots in-game that could lead to something but currently don't, the cave beneath the western border of The Unnamed City jumps to mind. They're good to have there for the most part, as it stimulates theorycrafting for the lorehounds, but also is a potential point of return for adding new content and having it make sense within the confines of the map

I've always wondered about the Disjunction...
@jvstice563 күн бұрын
Based off what we can dissect from the lore provided, the frozen north was definitely caused by human hands. If we look at where it's located on the map and how far it spreads, it's a safe assumption they did that to keep the Serpent-men within the Volcano since being cold-blooded, they wouldn't be able to survive in the freezing temps. Obviously, this would anger the Giant-Kings and demand answers. Naturally, this result was one of the first sparks that began the war. The lore of Conan Exiles is definitely rewarding for those who seek it out. Rewarding exploration is always a great thing for a game to do.
@piotrgruszka91283 күн бұрын
Thanks for the interesting material. The followers of Skelos the Filthy must have been a threat to humans. The Witch Queen may have expected that fighting them would not be easy and either reached for a source of magic that was too powerful or made a pact with someone from another dimension. This is how I see it, because I haven't found any more specific clues that would support any specific theory.
@adammyers34533 күн бұрын
Something else to chew on in regards to 3:42, a disjunction in logic is an OR statement. A OR statement P OR Q is true if either P or Q or both are true, and false otherwise. The P or Q are called disjuncts in this case. So, it could also mean an exploration of different possibilities, any of which or multiple could be true.

The ghosts in the lake are the same ghosts you see going up the road with a horse north of mounds
@idministerКүн бұрын
considering black ice concentration increases toward temple and not lake, under lake isnt the source my guess: giant kings build the original version of the temple [of frost]. and the OG sorcery was to be used in their conflict with the serpentmen. the serpentmen found out and used their sorcery to mess up what the giant-kings were trying to do and resulted in frostland the frost giants then took over the temple and have made adjustments to what the giant-kings left behind in the giant-king/serpentmen sorcery clash the lemurian city was destroyed in collateral damage. and the arrogant giant-kings were dismissive of any requests by the lemurians for comensation and this resulted in a spike in tension of the lemurians toward the giant-kings in the lead up to the start of their war
@AhlquistMediaLab3 күн бұрын
The clustering of black ice around the Siptah vaults and ley shrines certainly strengthens your ideas about it. How cool would it be to have an "Age of the Disjunction" chapter that has Siptah Maelstrom monsters pouring from the Disjunction portals, fighting the frost giants who now welcome your help and give you quests?
@Eradicati0nn3 күн бұрын
Yeah SIptah and the Outer Dark kinda go hand in hand, from my understanding. I'm not sure I see the Frost Giants as quest givers, but I do think the theory of them being more intelligent than they let on holds some weight, so I could see it work. It would be the perfect place to re-add server transfers too, if that's ever do-able

Seems pretty convenient to freeze around a mountain of fire where snake men live. But didn't the Giant Kings also worship Set? Perhaps the Giants wanted to find a way to protect their Humans from the Serpent Folk, and made a mistake with the disjunction. Mitra might be the patron enemy of Set, but I don't imagine Ymir would be happy with that serpent either. Jormungandr progenitor? I'm just spitballing, and I know this is pre-ancient history fantasy, but you were the one who asked for thoughts, so here's mine for the pile!
@Eradicati0nn3 күн бұрын
I appreciate the thoughts! Honestly, I think blame could lie on either side. Lemurians freezing it to keep the Serpentmen in, or Giant Kings freezing it to try and slow the Lemurians. The other question is who would have thought of Ymir? I'm not sure either the Giant Kings nor Lemurians would have been familiar, unless the catalyst was on the other side of the Disjunction
@wethril3 күн бұрын
@@Eradicati0nn I'm with you on this one. I think that the catalyst was on the other side. Similarly to how thralls in the OLD siptah would fall through into the world for you to catch from portals in the sky dropped from a rather ginormous Lovecraftian creature. I assumed it was from the Outer Dark that this creature was coming through the portal to the Tower. Maybe that something else on the Outer was causing something to occur and they came through the portal or it was just that the Disjunction caused a rip to the Outer dark directly and someone there decided to play around with people akin to that lovecraftian creature on Siptah. Spawning people from wherever they came from to land on the map. And with this I had a inkling that these people on Siptah (who also wore bracelets) were people stolen from the Exiled lands.
@Eradicati0nn3 күн бұрын
@@wethril The people on Siptah absolutely did come from TEL, I'm pretty sure the portals they dropped from showed an image of TEL through it when viewed from below. The replica Trapezohedron in the tower caused some severe problems with the Outer Dark, so that guess seems spot on. If it was something on the other side of the portal, the question is what. It's easy to point to Nyarlathotep, he does seem to love toying with TEL, but I don't like to point straight to him as the cause without any real evidence outside of "he's cruel", seems too easy 😂

Sounds like the Giant Kings where absolutely hopeless and land management, not only creating a sandstorm that destroyed all there fertile lands, but playing with sorcery in the North as well. No wonder they wanted human slaves, just like a toddler wants its mother.

I always thought it was created by the Asir. trying to comtact their god and the result was that castle manifesting. the giants came though it instead from another dimention. Black ice was like lead or iorn that is on our world would be. they were here before the cimmerians I was guessing because of that one ghost inside of the mounds and who he sugggest he was a member of the asir. that is why he had the recipie for that armor. it was a guess and mostly by what I saw and read. I always thought the comming of the asir happened before even the lemeriams made their trek here and learning from not outright enslaving them, they did so to the Lamerians. thsat's what my brain pieced together from the at best fragments of information we have. the mounds at that area is covered in fog and rain and that was from the weather differences between what that citidel created and the desert below. But again that was just what my mind came up with while playing this game. Why starmetal only falls into this place is way out of where my mind went in trying to reason it all.

So doesn't the bracelet keep everyone in the lands bound and basically immortal? Wheres all the people whove been there for a thousand years?
@Eradicati0nn2 күн бұрын
I don't think the bracelet renders people immortal, else the war against the Lemurians would have been futile for the Giant Kings. There's also numerous people who have died in TEL like Sanus and The Harlot. I see the immortality theory a bit, I think it's based off an inaccurate interpretation of dialogue from Gilzan the Treasure Hunter. I always viewed the player character's respawn as a game mechanic that's better off just not addressed in the lore
