Love those Conan comics from the 1970s, especially Savage Sword. There were some amazing artists in there.

Keep that Conan stuff coming! Those Epic collections are great! I would describe Buscema's art as being more storytelling than ornamental, which is what Windsor-Smiths was (not in a bad way). Buscema had developed his layout and storytelling abilities to a great degree by this point in his career whereas Smith still struggled with that, no matter how beautiful his art.

From the look of the pages of that book, the coloring is much better than Dark Horse’s trade graphic novel reprints (because they recolored the pages with computer coloring techniques that don’t really fit the comic). Some of the pages you’re showing don’t look drawn by Buscema (or else the inker embellished the pencils so much that Buscema’s style didn’t come through).

Great video, as always! I've read some Conan comics, but I probably missed this storyline. I remember your previous Conan comics video. I think back then I commented about reading some Red Sonja comics. "Conan in my mind" sounds like it could be a good song title, maybe even a poem. :)

Conan. Great Job, and Video. I really never bought a bunch of Conan comics, but I own a bunch of the black, and white magazines. I believe one of my favorite Conan comics is a What If with Kull, and a What If with Wolverine. Again Great Video 👍😁👍

The only issue from this volume I had was Neal Adam's Curse of the Golden Skull. Which was a bit of a jolt going from BWS's more organic looking artwork. But I do recall it being a great story by Thomas.

John Buscema wasn't a fan of anyone else inking his work. Not even his brother Sal. He preferred to do it himself when he was able to.
