I feel like a really fun way to turn this into a party game is to have some small group that has to hide a pineapple on their person and then have everyone else try to figure out who is in that group over an evening. The only issue with eating it is that the goal of the game was actually to have the "guesser" make the most incorrect guesses. Therefore, drinking it all is actually a really poor strategy. All the guesser would have to do is immediately say "Did you eat any of it?" and they would be done. That is one correct guesses out of one total guesses. That is why the guy that hid it on ~20 obscure parts of his body won this challenge. The guy made a bunch of guesses finding it and made several incorrect guesses along the way. I suppose you could modify the "eat it" strategy by eating most of it and hiding a very small part of it in a very obscure part of your body (like in your ear, or something) and making the guesser flounder around trying to find the second piece. I still think the "making it into dozens of tiny pieces" strat is better.
@givrally3 жыл бұрын
@@tylerb6981 Now I have an idea. On every task before this one, insist on the fact that your right ear is deaf. Really make it known. Then, do your strategy of eating most of it then hide a small piece, but use it as an earplug for your LEFT ear. Of course your right ear isn't actually deaf so you can still hear, but Alex should instantly think "Wait, if his right ear doesn't work, maybe he hid it there ?" and guess right ear. Wrong. Furthermore, if he thinks about it, given what he knows, there's no possible way it's hidden in your left ear since he thinks it's your only working ear. Therefore, he should keep guessing until he makes a throwaway guess on your left ear. EDIT : Fuck, I just realized that he can just say "Is there some in your ears" and the whole strategy's fucked.
@michaelccozens3 жыл бұрын
@@givrally You could respond "which ear?". I dunno if you'd get away with it, but maybe? Your strategy might work, but that's why they don't get to know about the tasks beforehand; very little possible prep.
@michaelccozens3 жыл бұрын
The drinking strategy by Jon is interesting, but not because of the consumption, which is kinda easy to guess (50/50, perhaps). Small amounts of pineapple, blended and put in ziploc bags, could be concealed in more difficult places with less obvious outline, especially if secured by clingfilm. Maybe combine that with the "lots of little bits" gambit. Anyway, great task!

I would have taken one of the leaves of the pineapple and cut it into very small pieces and hid them in unlikely places like under my hairline or under my shirt collar then I would've taken the rest of the pineapple and put it in an obvious place that way even though he'd find the majority of the pineapple I'd still have dozens of tiny pieces of leaf hidden all over me and obscured by fake hiding places

@iczyg4 жыл бұрын
Despite this just being a silly game, it could easily be improved by limiting the number of guesses, and then looking at the % of pineapple that was found in those limited guesses AND number of times guessed correctly out of those limited guesses, then weighting between % found and correct guesses for an overall score. That way you prevent cheesing by cutting up the pineapple and just plastering it in every other nook & cranny to increase the number of incorrect guesses, and the winner is the person who actually hid the item the best.

That wouldn’t be nearly as funny though. This is clearly an “entertainment over rules” type of show.
@iczyg4 жыл бұрын
@@obesus787 I'd disagree with that. There's a distinction to be made where humor is found. The big humor hits of the show through execution generally lie in either succeeding/failing to circumvent the ruleset given in an interesting way (i.e. success - mat to balls, failure - balloons in bag, succeeding or failing to find a secret method that was there from the start) or nonchalance/not giving a shit over trying to think too much about a task at all (i.e. potato in hole). Trying to be vague enough that if you've seen it you know what i'm talking about and if you haven't it doesn't spoil without context. The way this task works doesn't do any of that -- the humor is derived from the concept of the task itself -- people plastering pineapple all over their body. It's going to be really funny seeing everyone do that task in their own way. It's just the way it's written to be judged leads the outcome to kind of fall flat because it just feels like to get a lot of points, you could just kind of do the task poorly, rather than it feeling like more points went to players who performed some kind of outplay. Having a ruleset/method of judging that doesn't completely align with what the spirit of the task seems to be doesn't add any extra humor, but rather just kind of takes away from it. It's an unsatisfactory way to end, and having a better, more succinct ruleset that judges the task based more on how well the task was performed only serves to leave a satisfactory end to what was an already humorous task rather than taking away from it. And it seems like many people agree with that sentiment. I know this was kind of long, but I could tell it'd be on of those things I'd end up writing out over several replies later anyway.

"Can't discard" Blend it into a juice Throw it on a simmer to reduce
@Haki7Hikari4 жыл бұрын
There might be 2 problems with this strategy: 1. Greg might still consider reducing it by cooking as 'discarding the juice/water from the pineapple' 2. Even if the method is allowed, there is a time limit of 20 minutes, I think it would take quite a while to cut/blend it up and simmer it for enough time to reduce it enough. On top of that it would be burning hot, unless if you put it in something that is multiple layers of fabric away from your skin, you'll have to wait until it has cooled down. I doubt you have enough time (even if you pop it into the freezer). Even if you found enough time to cool it to a bearable temperature, then you'd still need enough time left to actually hide it on your body. I really think the time constraint wouldn't allow this method to work.

I was very upset by the title when they started to cut the pineapple up - that made this whole ordeal much easier.

I love how Richard has the pineapple crown very blatantly sticking out the front of his jeans, but Alex waits until the end before identifying it.

It seems a little unfair. I feel like the winner should've been the one who could most effectively smuggle their pineapple through an airport. So it was a little unfair for the people who went last, as the host already got to practice on several other contestants.

"hide item in 'location'" or "hide on person" task are super unbalanced since theres a first and last person in each task. First person is at advantage if they're smart, and the last is at a disadvantage as now alot of probable location are now mentally available.
@delightfulmochas2 жыл бұрын
It seems like this particular task is an exception since points are based on the most wrong guesses. Alex has more ideas on where to guess for later contestants, but this could work in their favor if he keeps getting it wrong. But I agree that it’s unfair for something like the aubergine hide and seek task in series nine

OMG, I laughed so hard, because with my first two encounters with fresh pineapple, I was rushed to the emergency room at the hospital. I'm not sensitive, I'm wildly, toxically allergic to fresh pineapple. Oddly, not cooked. This episode made me think about cooking it, eating it, and wearing it. Different strokes for different folks.
@SciencewithHK2 жыл бұрын
Fresh pineapple has an enzyme in it that is destroyed by cooking. I know this is old, but in case anyone is wondering.

i'm surprised none of them hid tiny bits of the leaves in their hair. i'd assume that'd be virtually impossible to spot if you do it right, and you wouldn't really think to check in someone's hair.
