thank you for making such a helpful video! ...i think usually wrist and groin is at the same place, so maybe for western standing anvil: face=knuckle, japanese standing anvil: face=wrist, but for japanese sitting anvil: face=waist, because i think the face is usually about 7sun up from your oshiri (or what you are sitting on)...in the case of sitting you are also farther back from the anvil than when standing, this is why it can be higher...and maybe why your favourite hammer needs less angle (because you stand to forge)...

this is a highly important video, I wish I had seen this much earlier. very enlightening! I think my anvil needs to be much higher and the way I swing the hammer is completely wrong! really, this is unbelievably helpful, thank you so much!

Thank you for explaining the use of the hammer. How I understand the symmetry is like the shape of a tear drop, the weight is at the bottom and so gravity helps to keep it upright when it falls.

@@ASANOKAJIYAstudio Hehe XXI century pre initiation test! I take this opportunity to ask a Japanese bladesmith this question : It is said that with the good technique, when you forge the bevels the tip goes down instead of up as a banana. Can you give your point of view about this please? Thanks from France!
