Today, this has been played at a young man's funeral service. He was 32 years old and had battled with Cystic Fybrosis all his life, only to be struck down with Pancreatic Cancer just over a year ago. He was an absolute fighter and I truly hope he's at peace now. The first comment I read, mentioned heaven being like this, I hope it's everything he ever wanted it to be and more, God Bless James Gibson xx

I did not know your friend, and will only know of both Mr. Gibson and you through this comment. However, I wish his soul rest in the afterlife and his loved ones peace in this one. I will include him in my prayers. He is with his creator and was able to pass away surrounded by friends and family; friends like you let him move from our world to the next with dignity. I wish you and your family all the best.

Possibly the most favourite fantasy location ever... Who doesn't want to go to The Shire?
@jimgilbert9984 Жыл бұрын
You can. You can go to the Shire. After they had finished shooting "The Fellowship of the Ring" movies, they left everything except the furniture and the props behind as a tourist attraction. But people were disappointed that they couldn't see the desk where Bilbo wrote "There & Back Again," or the tables, chairs, mugs, and casks in the pub, or the others bits and bobbins from the movies. So after they finished filming "The Hobbit" movies, they left everything in place, all the furniture and props, just as if the Hobbits were still living there, for everyone to visit and see. I don't know if it's still set up like that all these years later, but it would be pretty cool if it was, wouldn't it? You can also bring a little bit of that to your backyard if you can't make it to New Zealand. I've seen memes that show how people built playhouses for their kids that were little Hobbit holes, including the turf on the sides and tops of the small buildings. There are even photos to be found of the interiors of these playhouses/Hobbit holes. One meme even said, "Instead of building your kid a treehouse, why not build him a Hobbit house?" Plus, I found a book of floor plans for buried homes available on Amazon. Some of the homes are very simple and small, while some are large enough for a regular family, including even a garage.

@@plopap I know, but you can still literally visit the Shire. After the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy finished filming, the director had the props removed from the buildings in the Shire, but he left the buildings standing as a tourist attraction. After they finished filming the Hobbit trilogy, he again left the buildings up, but he also left all the props in place. You can walk through Bilbo's home and see the desk and papers Bilbo and Samwise used in writing their books. You can visit the pub and sit at the tables and see the kegs and tankards. Etc.
@nickbonavita1379 Жыл бұрын
@@jimgilbert9984 Not so, all the inside filming was done in the studio set, Hobbiton is just the outside. The only insides in Hobbiton in the Green Dragon Inn and the Mill. Watch the videos on KZbin and you'll see some people peeking behind some of the doors and there's nothing there because they're about the size of a large closet. In fact the interior of Bag End is now set up in Peter Jackson's basement.
@Private.Willie.Stroker Жыл бұрын
Most of the houses in hobbiton new Zealand are just the doors and a small room behind it, there's no complete hobbit hole there.. and bilbo his home was mostly done in a studio lol, they just changed a few things to attract tourist's + the bar seems nice on paper, but you can't stay for more than 20 mins bcuz than another tour group arrives Than there's the hotel, where the experience gets ruined by screaming kids

I have a similar song. my dad told me it saved him one stormy day at sea because grandpa always played it when he lived, and it woke him up when it randomly started playing on the radio so he could steer away from some reefs that would have capsized the boat. You know what the irony is? The beauty of the shire could probably only be experienced by those that had seen the horrors in the the world outside it. To those who were born in the shire and never saw anything else (like sam) , the shire was boring. Sam wanted desperately to get out and see the world. And gandalf and bilbo and the rest of us could appreciate how the shire was almost like heaven.
@Sarkasticify Жыл бұрын
I don't think so. Hobbits love the shire and they don't want to leave. Sam and Frodo were special. As was Bilbo.

For those of you who yearn, in even the tiniest amount, to be a Hobbit, then you should note the words of Gandalf at the end of the Rankin and Bass animated version of "The Return of the King," in which one of the Hobbits worriedly asks the wizard if there is no place for Hobbits in this new Age of Men. Gandalf points out that Frodo is bigger than Bilbo, as Sam is bigger than Frodo, and Merry and Pip larger still. So there will be a bit of Hobbits among the Humans. He then looks out at the audience and breaks the Fourth Wall, asking, "Is there some Hobbit in you?" As for me? My answer is: Yes!
