Concierto de Aranjuez, Pepe Romero/Marriner, and featuring the composer Joaquin Rodrigo

I was 17 years old when I first heard this concierto many years ago. I only remembered Los Romeros played it on their album and never knew the composer or the name. This piece is what made me fall in love with classical guitar. It is one of the most beautiful conciertos on earth, especially Adagio. Thank you for posting!

I was a similar age. My Dad had bought a tape cassette from Marks and Spencer, of all places, of the Concerto being played by John Williams, I think. I was so startled by the music, and then profoundly moved. It made me feel, touch, see, hear, the PATHOS and beauty was out of this world.

Jeune coopérant au Maroc, j'avais pris le train de nuit Sud de l'Espagne/Madrid pour revenir en France en Juillet 1967. Je ne sais pourquoi, depuis toujours, ce concerto - merveilleuse musique - réveille en moi le souvenir de la campagne espagnole sous le soleil matinal, vue de la fenêtre du train en me réveillant.

One of my very favorite video/concert/documentaries. I've shared it with many students. The performance is as good as it gets, but the video also captures the determination of the players, the beauty of Pepe's playing, and the pleasure of Marriner. Plus, a video tour of the town.
