As a theatre designer, one of my all-time wishes is to be able to sit down with Ralph Fiennes and just talk for several hours. Picking his brain and exchanging ideas. Anyway, this interview makes me more interested in the film than I was originally. I’ll check it out!

John Peter Pham's book, 'Heirs of the Fisherman' is an analysis of all the conclaves and how they arrived at their decisions. Essentially, it is an account of serial factionalism and my main takeaway is that God's chosen one is the candidate the least number of delegates object to. 'But how would he know, the conclaves are held in great secrecy', I hear someone ask. Indeed, they are, but cardinals are desperate gossips.

I think Vatikan will be trend topic in 2025 once again. This movie is one of my nominees for the Oscars.(And I totally agree that 1970's are great inspiration in many ways)

Outstanding movie! The Church has to deal with all the issues in our society today! Equal rights for all or just certain people, races,ect. The Church can not avoid these issues any longer

The church deals with all issues you’ve mentioned in all societies, not just yours. Don’t assume your brand of secular beliefs or progressivism are in alignment with the fundamental belief in human value which the church teaches because they clearly are not. This could have been a great movie, just turned out to be another Trojan horse of wokeism, using the Catholic Church as a vessel to spread sanctimonious ideologies.

I have not seen the film but am unimpressed with the trailer which throws in a little Islamic terrorism in there for good Western chauvinist measure. The Roman Catholic Church is NOT ABOUT "rights"--whether yours or mine. Rights are for civil society and include among it's most prominent, freed of religion. This is an anti-Catholic propaganda movie. Berger is obviously gay--the affeminate type of gay. If you don't agree with a church or denomination, resign--and go join another. Just like with political parties.
