I grew up in Concord for a lot of my life, attended Concord High and joined the Army right after graduation and now live in the Midwest, I come back to visit my parents a little bit and it's crazy how much it's changed. I would say a huge con is just how crowded it is, it seems like every time I visit my family they have built new houses left and right, definitely would seem hard to raise a family.

Yep and people make fun of how everyone is leaving California but yet it just keeps growing. I agree with you but you just can't beat the weather and all the FREE stuff to do if you have a family all year round.

im from concord still live here its not as bad as people make it seem the homeless really just around downtown and the atart of clayton rd and da crime isnt bad like that if ur not into anything then u have nun to worry about

Exactly, Diablo Valley people are sheltered. They over exaggerate on most things. They make it seem like it's Oakland, Berkeley and SF levels of homeless and they make it seem like crime is on Richmond and Oakland levels. Concord is one of the safest places to live.

“Definitely need a car, too spread out to bike” …this feels like a 2010 statement that doesn’t consider the electrification of last mile transport. There are way more personal transport options than just cars and bikes. e-bikes, e-scoots, eucs, and esk8s can all be used to easily get around concord without needing a car. And they can all get taken on to the BART. Get with the times-the world of electrification extends beyond $80,000 cars.

I've lived in Concord my whole life and I've never seen my town this bad. The crime and homeless have risen exponentially.

I just recently had the choice to purchase in downtown Walnut Creek or right on the boarder of Concord near Contra Costa Bart. My bottom line was the $$$$ and Bart access. I have no kids so schools weren’t a deal breaker for me. I spent 150k less for a newly renovated house vs Walunt Creek’s 1 bedroom condo. It was like apples and oranges. After living in downtown Walnut Creek for 3 years, I found myself driving to the Veranda everyday for the gym and Whole Foods 365. Anyhow. (FYI-That Whole Foods is nicer/cleaner than the WC locations) I actually spent less time in WC downtown, even though I lived there… 😆 It was a no brainer for me. Spend more $$$$ in WC or almost being debt free by living on the border and the commute added time was 6 minutes. I saved $150k by increasing my commute time by 6 minutes… This is also situational, bc I’m a single person. If I had a family with kids I would have definitely chosen WC, bc of the schools and how polished the WC community is… I think raising a family in Concord might be challenging, bc it’s schools, public,transportation, and city hall issues… But then again, Concord is on the way up! Many quality ppl are moving in and with that brings positive changes to the community.

You nailed it! Concord, Matinez and PH are all on the up and up! Growing up in SR when I moved to PH it was like a major step down but we could only afford a condo in WC so we went for the house and now it's doubled in value and the city is the next best thing to WC. Just hold in Concord and you will see the return. Plus if you have a kid ever you can always do private school which is what we are doing! Thanks for the awesome comment, I totally agree with you but have to do both pro and con videos. I love the veranda and honestly it's way better than DT WC for families, that water feature will keep kids entertained for hours plus the leaf park - my son LOVES that place! Check out Devil and Angel boba it's awesome and the noodle restaurant next to it to and the Ramen, soooo good!! Congrats on the investment, you will win if you just hold it as long as you can!

Love you rachel. concord used to be great 25 years ago. i remember as a child. Go down monument blvd now. But dont go at night. Ha. Bay area turned to crap. Love your channel, and i will continue to watch it. But im glad i moved to texas. My brother in antioch is soon going to sell and moving to another state also.

I lived in bishop estates off Bailey and concord blvd for 25 yrs. My wife and I are ready to purchase a house and I've always wanted to move back to my old neighborhood......860k now...guess I'll never live where I was raised my whole life now.

Spent most of my adult life in the East Bay, Concord/Pleasant Hill area. Do yourself a favor. Don't move here. Find a place on the other side of the CA border. The Bay Area especially is a train wreck. It isn't just the homeless. Its the crime. Don't let her fool you. There's a ton of homeless here in Concord too. Take a stroll down Sunvalley Mall. Watch under the 680 overpass at Concord (by Target/In & Out). Go up Contra Costa Blvd towards Pacheco/Martinez.

I lived in Concord for 17 years from 89 to 2006 before I moved there I live a year in Walnut Creek then I moved to Concord I loved it for like the first 10 years then the Illegal started moving there some were really cool people but a lot just don't belong there they don't respect the Laws and there was a lot of Crime I lost my Job once to an Illegal when I was asked to train him I didn't know I was Training him to take my Job in 2006 I had enough and I moved back to Texas and I'll never go back

Do we "not" work with a realtor for new home, but just contact the builder? Will there be over-development and turn Brentwood into Dublin (way too much new homes)? Will buying new home work with 1031 exchange? Also, is Discovery Bay in the flood zone and will it be in danger when climate change and sea level get higher? Thanks.

Tbh I barely notice homeless in Concord. However, I bought a house in Concord this year and tbh I wouldnt buy it again. Will likely sell soon and I had to overpay for my home due to bids earlier this year. The commute isnt great (to livermore). I have been driving to rockridge for places to eat, about a 20 min drive.

Concord was a decent place in the 1980s and 1990s. But the city has really declined since then. Much of it is really run down and feels like Mexico.

Its not Antioch 🤣🤣🥳🥳🥳 so frankly ... Concord is better i lived in Concord to discovery bay ... I Prefer Concord over all of Eastbay. Homeless?? Its everywhere!!!! NO its less expensive in brentwood .... And Disco bay are you kidding!?! Its hella expensive to live there!!! I lived there time to te best thing about Disco is SOLITUDE !! When i lived in Concord i walked everywhere ... You cant walk in brentwood!!!! Btw i was a taxi driver for 3 years in concord. I ❤️ Concords downtown ... Hotdog palace, The Brendan...skipolinis ... Newhall park. I think, n i walk everywhere ... I prefer Concord instead of walnut creek n pleasant hill ... N you got Sunvalle mall .... Concords the best if you ask me ... I lived in Novato too .... Its too wide spread for me

Lol where is the homeless and crime in Concord? Like 3 or 5 around todos Santos area? Go to Berkeley or SF if you want to see real homeless problems. Concord ain't the bay either despite it being miscategorized as "east bay". You ain't the damn bay if you're not touching SF bay, and Concord and surrounding suburbs don't have bay weather cuz it ain't touching SF bay, it's hella hot like Sac.
