Even people who point out the Woke contribution to its failure often underestimate how big a factor it is. Woke isn't just about pronouns. It's a very expansive theory, well not even that as most of it consists of absurd falsehoods. It's a set of fallacies. There are Woke elements that unless you've deeply studied the ideology as much as a practitioner would you would fail to fully realise just how much it impacts a product. In Woke belief you don't really exist. You're sort of a black slate and nothing about you actually comes from you. You are believed to be socialised and everything you like isn't really what you like but what you are told to like. In Woke belief your tastes aren't your own and aren't real. Woke belief then believes that it has the right to therefore dictate tastes, what you love, what you hate, what you like and dislike. In Woke belief you as an individual don't exist and have no rights, no self, no self possession, no right to your own ego and so on. In this belief system all of your choices, preferences, desires, tastes, likes, dislikes, values and the like are invalid. You are seen as not truly capable of choice and instead just a puppet and in Woke belief they believe that they have the divine right to pull the strings for various spurious reasons that really amount to it being self appointed. You can see this if you examine the Woke conception of beauty standards. It does not believe that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It believes that people have beauty standards installed on them by various social forces and that they then have an automatic right to contend with those to install their beauty standards instead. Even people who know there is something wrong with Woke are unlikely to have read all that much of the scripture. They may be exposed to enough to know there are problems but not the full extent of it. When you inject this kind of thinking, if you can even call it thought, the impact on the creative process is profound. In their belief system they can make whatever they want and you're just supposed to like it. There is no recognition of the customer as a person. It's quite dehumanising. It systematically seeks to minimise the ego of those outside the group down to nothing if it can while inflating that of those inside the group. They see society and the people in it as existing to serve them as a kind of new master race of enlightened people on a higher plain of existence where as everyone else is seen as mindless drones sleep walking through life. This belief system is obviously detached from reality. It is a kind of extremist fanciful or wishful thinking. People aren't just going to go along with forcing themselves to pretend to like whatever you produce completely selflessly sacrificing themselves for the petty indulgence of random selfish people. Once you adopt this as a part of your culture things such as catering to the preferences and tastes of the customer are abandoned. Instead they make what they want and then simply dictate that you must like it or else. It then gets worse than that. The belief system encourages mistreatment of the customers that is really going to put them off. The Woke belief system is totalitarian and absolutist. It sees itself as infallible and unconditionally superior in all things. From the perspective of someone who is Woke they are never at fault. It takes it upon itself to diagnose society and all the people in it including the customers with imaginary or misapplied psychiatric conditions which essentially boil down to attempting to medicalise anyone who thinks differently. It also creates its own system or morality which it applies to people in general, which therefore includes your customers, to then extrajudicially find them guilty of various imagined crimes. In the Woke belief system your priority in all things must be to address this. It overrides any other priority including whatever your business purposes are. If you're making any kind of product under Woke belief you're supposed to take the opportunity to exploit the supply dependency to tell the customers off, punish them and to attempt to give what is believed to be corrective psychiatric therapy to the customer who is simply assumed to be in the wrong even though you've never met them. Few people are aware the Woke belief when put into practice breaks quite a lot of laws. It does this in a deliberately evasive manner so a lot of people miss it when it's happening. There are people who even if they have never heard of Woke as a result will be put off the game. People will tend to pick up on at least something being wrong. The obvious problem will be that the game will simply not be in good taste. They will not recognise it as something that is particularly likeable because it won't consider this relevant under Woke direction. Woke belief is not about operating according to what people like. It is explicitly and specifically adversarial toward that. It openly dismisses it. Players will also likely get a sense of politics being pushed on them. Then there's the part that is harder to put into words. Just the way the game expresses itself to them and treats them or at least how they are being treated by proxy by people making the game will feel antagonistic. They will feel like they are being picked on, snubbed, punished or as though some opinionated and incompetent stranger is trying to give them psychotherapy at a distance with out their consent. There are a lot of bad decisions when it comes to this game that will likely be due to the adoption and incorporation of Woke actors into the process which won't be immediately obvious. Woke belief doesn't just have it's own specific problems but more broadly contributes to, encourages and defends things such as incompetence or low standards in general.

i already find people who have pronouns on bio/display name cringe as fuck, so why would i want to play as characters who do the same exact thing? not to mention the people with pronouns on bio/display and the actual playerbase of hero shooters are almost two separate circles

God I always wanna bat for the trash robot. I loved his design. Like, he’s clearly a tanky trash robot and robots saying marvel-esque quips is totally okay bc they’re just saying what they literally can and it reminds me of Baymax which is a plus. He needs his own game.

They should have just taken every he him her they whatever out of the script so people could be happy with their now pronounless game. Id love the dialogue to look like “but _ didnt do it!” Or “ _ were both walked” or, best of all, “_ is dumb”

The characters are poorly designed _because of_ DEI. People like to say DEI/woke didn't kill the game, it was bad characters, but don't want to admit or don't realize that these things are connected. DEI policies dictate the design philosophy, and some of the core tenets of woke philosophy are: No male gaze (no characters are sexually attractive), no stereotyping (all the characters dress in a random mishmash of bullshit with no coherence or style), and no "oppressive western beauty standards" (all the characters are uggos). People think a woke character means they have to be non-white/trans and constantly reference their gender or wear pride/pronoun pins, but DEI has infected deeper than that that it affects the character design on a fundamental level.

The lore of the game seems interesting. If the Amazon short is good and has enough interested people maybe Firewalks Studios can make a small game in that universe (hopefully with a better character design...). I doubt that Concord will return

I don't care about the DEI stuff. It's perfectly acceptable to me that people should have a range of choices of who to play that they relate to. But yeah - otherwise this looks like a mess. I'm always reminded of the insane top-10-selling-games-ever success of Terraria, a game that looks like it was made for $100, and the lesson it provides to these mega-budget failures: Just Make A Good Game.
