ConCourt judgment on IEC appeal over Zuma's candidacy ruling

The Constitutional Court hands down its judgment on the IEC's appeal against the Electoral court order on former President Jacob Zuma's candidacy.
The apex court heard arguments earlier this month on the correct interpretation of Section 47(1)(E) of the Constitution - which governs who qualifies for membership of the National Assembly.

I think there's a fundamental point some of us are missing here, and that is, this has nothing to do with the MK party. No one is saying you shouldn't vote for the party, it was Zuma's eligibility to be a member of parliament that was being contested. It is your constitutional right to vote for whatever party you want to represent your interests in parly, given they are registered with the IEC of course.

If contempt of court is a crime, ' were then criminal procedures followed in incriminating him? What are the criminal procedures, were they followed? Constitutional court as the last resort why was it used as the first resort? Crimes have weights in that some are held at lower (magistrate courts) courts and some to high court. Zuma was sent to jail without court proceedings and representation

The only criminal to be sentenced without trial. The only time when the constitutional court has decided on the remedy or sentence without referring the case to high court to make the final remedy

While the remission is simply a release of a convict from incarceration? That's ridiculous! @@koolerkool8008 are we not ashamed to have an "apex court" that ostracized a freedom fighter like Winnie Mandela into entering a post apartheid parliament? Was this not the type of change she gave her life to enacting? To cross reference Winnie's case to this whilst beaming with pride and confidence is where the real problem lies. All the apartheid militias, military and state actors, whom sent numerous parcel bombs and participated in innumerable unjust incarcerations, whom also engaged in settlement upheavals went to parliament without objection because we sought to create a "new South Africa". Why didn't the TRC provide her with the same "pardons" F.W de Klerk received? The issue is, state apparatuses are being used to silence individuals seeking meaningful change for the people, Winnie Mandela's case you've just cross referenced proves this. Now we've added another victim to the list to such conspiracies. We are now, legally, two strokes away from draconian oppression. Remember Rivonia Trial.
