Of course, he'd go for the smoky voiced Canadian, but her renditions have never failed to move me. As for this song, this is everything a cover should be. Possibly even darker than the original. I saw Concrete Blonde open for Cyndi Lauper on the "True Colors" tour...I was 10; my mom, dad, uncle & my uncles girlfriend came with me. I remember we were ALL blown away by the opening band, but afterwards none of us could remember their name. Fast forward 4 years, I was listening to Bloodletting in my bedroom...my mom came in & asked me, "What are you listening to? The singers voice sounds familiar..." When I told her, she said, "THAT'S their name...the band that opened for Cyndi Lauper!!!" And I still love both Cyndi & Concrete Blonde to this day ❤❤❤

This song was not written regarding relationships, but that's the message I get. My wife and I have been married for 23 years (29 since we started dating). And we would never cheat on each other. But all of our friends have divorces at least once. And what I hear in this song is that when you're cheating on your wife or husband... EVERYBODY knows. This is a sad song, but it's a good lesson. I remember this concert at The Grind! It was the one and only time I ever saw Concrete Blonde live. I bought 2 tickets from Zia Records in Tempe for $40. One if the BEST shows I've ever seen. I remember Johnette stopped the show to tell at some aashat in the audience. I don't remember if she had him thrown out or not, but they put on an incredible show!
