Concrete Floors and Radiant Heat

Take a look at our radiant floor heat system, including a Navien Tankless Water Heater, and our 2 zone radiant system. We installed the foam boards and tubing and our HVAC contractor installed the actual components. This video highlights how we did the work, how the system operates, and walks through some of the comfort features we find so nice about having a radiant system. Thank-you for the tour. It seems like some people place vapor barrier above the insulation, but you seem to have it below, please comment. Also, do you put a layer of gravel under the insulation, or is it just compacted dirt? I don't see any rebar or wire mesh, was it not necessary? Finally, do you take any measures to insulate the sides of the slab-on-grade, or is there some heat loss there that you live with? Thanks for your response!
