Bob was one of those exceptional artists who could take the experience of hopeless poverty, cry pain into it, turning it into art in which we can see a reflection of our own humanity.

Bob’s music could not be what it is today without Aston and his brother Carly. Can you imagine Bob’s song without that base by Aston. Actually Bunny and Peter had better singing voices than Bob. Listen to Bunny sing Quit Trying and judge for yourself.

The first album I ever bought was Bob Narkey abs the Wailers live, after I met a girl from Amsterdanlm, I must have been 14, she had everything red, yellow and green, even her socks and bikini😅 Anyway, when I got home from vacation in France, I tried to get as much of his music, back then it were mostly tapes, but I did came across his album and saved up my allowance and bought it, even had my mother knit a rasta sweater, I wore it all year, till I found Prince and he became my idol. I always kept listening to him, but not much else till my much later boyfriend, who knew all sorts of reagea, not the commercial shit they played here and never gravitated to. I listen to all kinds of music now, but back then you couldn't love Prince and Michael Jackson St the same time, the teenage years.🎉

like George Martin within the Beatles musical circle, the contributions of Wailers producer Chris Blackwell cannot be overstated; Bob & The Wailers had been recording in Jamaica for years with varying degrees of local success but it was Blackwell’s idea to add the Bluesy Rock guitar parts first heard on Catch A Fire, the Wailers’ debut on Blackwell’s Island records; that’s Texan Wayne Perkins playing that incredible guitar solo; he also recorded with the Stones on their transitional Black & Blue album
