I finish up my sawmill concrete slab and I looks great, but maybe too nice and slick! Maybe a tripping hazard. I also use my high voltage NOCO lithium jump box for the first time to start a 100hp diesel tractor. This is a spandex free sawmill zone!
Welcome to Hobby Hardwood Alabama - a real, professional sawmill lumber production business, ranked by a national website as producing the highest quality wood in Alabama. We started with a chainsaw mill, upgraded to a portable manaul sawmill, then a production bandsaw mill. We are not a video company, but we are a real lumber company, and want to show others some of our money making and business sawmill techniques. We are not a video company, but we are a real lumber company, and want to show others some of our money making and business sawmill techniques. This video is another example of sawmilling for our business, Hobby Hardwood, Alabama. We show how we mill logs, dry them and other things on our outdoor farm. We use our amazing fleet of hardware and tools, such as our custom New Holland Tractor, Wood-Mizer LT-70 sawmill, as well as our Cantek planers, Baker edgers, and SLR machines in action, operation, milling and while sawing logs to lumber. The Woodmizer LT Super 70 sawmill is the the biggest, fasted and most automatic bandsaw mill Woodmizer makes, with joystick control and Diesel engine. Very few sawmills are this fast, including Baker, Morgan, Harbor Freight, Cooks, Northern, Timber King, Norwood, Woodland, chainsaw mill, and Hudson. It’s not an Amish Sawmill, but the fastest and most modern band mill Wood-Mizer makes and produces the best lumber wood for wood working projects and our lumber business. We also showcase our Nyle Kilns and air drying lumber techniques. Lots of tips and tricks to make sawing and drying easier for beginners and professional woodworkers to keep our sawmill turning trees and logs into gold instead of firewood. My buddy, Nathan Elliot, of Out of the Woods Sawmill, OTW, convinced me I needed to start filming our operation, so here goes. Someday I want to have as many followers as other sawmill videos on KZbin, like Nathan and Outdoors With the Morgans. We show how to make money with your sawmill and pass on our how-to tips and tricks for better sawmilling. Watch us use our sawmill, chainsaw mill, band saw, and bandsaw, compact track loader and other Kubota and New Holland excavators.

I have to admit that the stupid part of my brain is asking "Why sealer?", but there must be a reason. We (southern Finland, northern Europe) have never done it outside but that is because of ice and snow... There are pros and cons regarding allmost everything in life, I wish you a good continuation of 2024 👍🏼🤗!

Sealer is a point of no return, it it't not put on first thing it never seems to work as well, and I have long term plans to move the sawmill and build it a new home, so I figured I might as well seal to now and get it "locked" in. Most of the places I will walk on will have rubber tread mats anyway, so that will cushion my feet. I guess the real answer is "I thought it was a good idea at the time...and we will see if I screwed up"

We have commented back and for a few times but... brush finish. Don't get me wrong if that company wants to come to New England when I get ready for my basement, them they are more than welcome. That's beautiful, that could be a countertop . Come on your an engineer. I'm the dumb dirt guy water or saw dust on that floor good luck.

Great comment,. You are right, a brush floor does give better footing, and I did consider it, but I have a brush finish on my edger floor and I've noticed that it traps moistures and causes the sawdust to mold if I don't clean it regularly (I don't) and it makes it fairly hard to sweep. So I originally planned on a super slick floor and anchors, but with all the comments on using rubber, I figured I'd give it a try. So worst case I go back to the original plan and anchor it down.

up in Tennessee we use pads cut from old tires. Make the pad bigger than your rigger feet. then, frame it with tire strips up against the rigger plate. bolt em to the tire pad underneath. that keeps em from walking out from under the rigger.

Love your videos! Very informative! I have a New Holland tractor with a battery in front of the radiator. When the tractor is running and charging well, it gave off fumes that came out of vents on top of battery and started to corrode the battery fins so much it started to leak. New radiator and a new battery that vented down thru rubber hoses. Hope yours is not doing that!

Looks like you had a good concrete crew. Nice finish. I know you know what diesel or gas will do to the sealer. But shoot, few weeks from now, after you've put it through the paces, ain't gonna matter one bit. Happy New Year.
@HobbyHardwoodAlabama
@HobbyHardwoodAlabama 9 ай бұрын
Yep, they were very good,, and stayed out until well after dark. I figure the coating will last on the areas where the diesel and oil won't get to, and will dissolve where the diesel and oil contact. It should also prevent abrasion (I hope) on my dust collector hose and other stuff. Either way, in a few years, it will just look like "concrete."

If you get some thick pads, say 1”+ you could bolt them to the feet. If the mill walks the pads walk with the mill. Best I could find quickly did 1500lbs per pad, so if the weight is even you would have 6 pads (6 feet on the mill) and be able to support 9,000lbs.
