World class English batsmen can not play a debut fast bowler on flat pitch? Also did harshit rana took wicket of brook? He himself gave away his wicket against spinner. Livingston also threw away his wicket by giving easy catch against harshit rana. But English players are acting like they lost the match just because of one substitution. 😂 Even bethell threw away his wicket against rana. It's not like Harshit rana did some insane bowling. If english batsmen hit boundaries against harshit rana, then nobody would have had any problem. But when that same substitute took wicket, it became a problem.

@@lonewolfe2502 nobody is arguing that Rana didn’t play well. The argument is why he was allowed on the pitch as a like for like replacement. Not the Indian teams fault, they were allowed to by match referee and the umpires. If is was reversed and it happened to India in England with and English match referee in charge. We both know the reaction from Indian fans would be. I personally think if a batsman gets concussed and has to retire hurt or not field, then a substitute fielder should be allowed but not play a part in batting or bowling. Injuries happen that’s sport and it’s bad luck but replacing a batter with a front line seamer who is then allowed to bowl a full quota, regardless of nationality or experience for me is wrong.

Ramandeep Singh bowled medium pace overs 6 times for Punjab in the last 2 months and took the field in this India vs England match as a replacement fielder. Why did Srinath judge Rana as a more like-for-like replacement than Ramandeep Singh. If the answer is that Singh was injured (which hasn't been mentioned yet) then Rana should have at least had restrictions placed on the amount of overs bowled if not also been required to bowl from a shortened run-up. Srinath should be publicly censured by his by his icc match referee expert panel peers for this exceptionally poor judgement.

There are two issues here. First let’s be clear India won because they posted a strong score and England were in a good position to win and should have done so but couldn’t. So no complaints about the result from me. The broader question is how the concussion substitution is interpreted. The match referee is independent and has the responsibility of ensuring the correct decision is made. The overarching factor must be that if predominately a batter is replaced by predominantly a bowler then that feels like it creates an unfair advantage which is not the objective of this process. It almost replicates the IPL where you openly play batters then substitute a bowler. I believe that is not correct. Now, if you don’t have a substitute that replicates the injured party in terms of skill what do you do? Have more subs so that there is more choice? Where do you stop. My question is who should have been chosen if not Rana? Let’s be honest you won’t chose a batter will you when you are in the field.
