Sometimes the mountain bike race experience doesn't go as planned. Brian Cahal takes a couple lumps to the dome and takes us for a wild ride with his TDS Enduro experience before capturing the enduro spirit at the NAEC. #MTB #enduro #mountainbike

With concussions, give yourself a lot of recovery time (weeks to months) and come back slowly making sure you're symptom free at each step. Coming back too soon puts you at more risk for another concussion.

Agreed, I didn’t go into too much detail in the video but I worked with a concussion specialist through the recovery and it was a good seven weeks before I returned to full activity and started prepping for the race.

@@briancahal Do you know the story of Lorraine Truong ? Her story is the perfect example of how mishandling a head injury can totally ruin your life.

@@briancahal good to hear. i think there's sometimes a "get back on the horse" attitude but the brain is different than riding with a sprained ankle or something. never try to push through concussions symptoms. sounds like you're on top of it.

Don’t mess around with second impacts! Good luck with your recovery. Look into vision therapy. Immensely helpful.

I really don’t understand this new generation of mountain bike racers, you know the kind that wear just a jersey and shorts or riding pants but no protective gear underneath no elbow pads no knee guards and no full face helmet! Come on guys you’re not invincible, look at the old-school riders from the 90s, they wore pads from head to toe and they raced on easier courses, you guys ride the gnarly stuff now on days all the more reason you should be well protected. Just saying 🤷🏻‍♂️

they also had terrrrible technique back then, understandably, leading to way more crashes due to sketchy riding. Remember people putting feet out for balance and shit

@@cameronrichardson6607 That is besides the point, good technique is not going to protect you from that one crash where you break yourself for being confident that having good form will save you. In fact, good technique will help you go faster which in turn will potentially make the rider crash harder. I agree that today’s riders ride very unprotected just to look cool or comfortable.

Yeah man i dont get it either, that trend started not too long ago with the media and bike mags just displaying riders with no protection and slowly other idiots just wanted to do it to look cool and with the false impression of comfort. Once they break their elbows or knees caps then they change their mind. When they get old and clogged with preventable body aches and bone and cartilage degeneration they will regret it. I hope i am wrong though which is quite possible.

@@DeezNuts-ik6xl I was strictly talking about racers , I should have made that more clear. in regards to racing, pads make it hard to achieve the body position and level of mobility required for going the fastest
