I have an OKIData C5150N. On this particular model, there is only one gear. Before trying the cleaning method you describe, I advanced a clean sheet of paper through using the gear wheel, and it came out the other end perfectly clean. No marks or lines of any kind. Decided not to proceed with the cleaning, having assumed that my problem lies elsewhere. Most likely the toner drums.

+LOA1955 .................Pull the cyan drum unit out of the printer and see if there is a line of toner or a scratch on that side. If you see a line of toner try shaking the drum unit from side to side several times. This is a sign that toner is clotting. If you see a scratch then replace the drum unit. There is no real safe way to clean a drum.

Unfortunately, I do not have the procedure to disassemble an Okidata fuser. That information is usually reserved for service technicians. I would advise that you remove and reset the transfer belt to your OKI C5150n. The transfer belt is the "black belt" underneath your toners and image drums. If the belt is slightly misaligned, it could cause paper to feed into the fuser at an angle. If this trick does not work, you may have to invest in a replacement fuser.

What do you do with the gears before you put the cleaned fuser back into the printer? I popped the outer wheel as instructed, cleaned the roller by turning the inner wheel, but do I just put the fuser back as is? Don't I have to reset the gears as they were before?

Is there anything I can do, if I get Error 348 (check fuser unit / not properly installed) after cleaning? When I turn on the printer I hear a repeated squeaking sound of the printer appearantly trying to check / move the fuser, giving up after 4 attempts. The unit is properly seated. Maybe I have damaged the fuser unit by cleaning? Can the gears be in a wrong position?

Do i have to do anything with the outside gear wheel after cleaning? (restore position?) or not
@condesystems9 жыл бұрын
No, you do not have to readjust the gear wheel. Simply place the fuser assembly back into position, lock in and close the top lid of your OKI printer.

+Connect Load your printer with plain paper, then print a 8" x 10" "solid panel" of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. If the streak appears in only one panel, then the issue is probably image drum related. If the streak appears on all four color panels, then the issue could be a transfer belt or fuser. My labels keep getting stuck in the fuser and now the bar with the little brushes has fallen off - what do I need to do?? Many thanks Helen
@condesystems9 жыл бұрын
If your "brush bar" has come off your fuser assembly, but it is still operational, then no worries. However, if you have cleaned your fuser and your labels are still getting stuck within the fuser, then you may want to consider purchasing a replacement. If your labels are getting to the fuser, but then jams and folds up, then it may be a static issue with your labels. You can try to remove the static charge from your media by wiping the media with an unscented dryer sheet.

doesnt work, need the file to flash firmware or whatever file they use to clear the 980 message. do you know where i can find this? c610n thanks

Usually, a "Fatal Error #980" message on an OKI printer means that the Fuser Assembly has failed. If you clean your fuser, reinstall in the printer and still get a "Fatal Error #980" message, then the fuser must be replaced. For a "second opinion", you can contact OKI Tech Support at 1-800-654-3282.

***** I can advise that even a new fuser does not fix the Fatal error 980 problem
