Brittany you should not feel embarrassed about purchasing a condo, not many single women are capable of such a great accomplishment. I bought my first place when I was twenty one and I've never rented another place since. It was a fixer but I jumped in and learned how to do a few things to improve it. You will be thrilled when you do your taxes next year and get your mortgagee interest deduction too! If you can get yourself to a place where you can save for your next place but keep your last and rent it out , and can do that a few times, you will have a nice little nest egg when you are ready to retire!

Girl, you sound like me. I will soon be closing on my condo. My SFH fell through. My son will be a freshman and I prefer him to stay in his district. I never considered a condo. But, as you say God is in control. I’m a single mom, will be starting my Master’s this fall, working 2 jobs. I also asked my closing cost and got it. My mortgage with HOA dues is the amount I paid in my apartment. I sacrificed for 2 years, moved back with my parents and I’m 38. Trust God is in control, we just have to trust the process.

You have to do whatever is best for you and your lifestyle. If you don't want the extra work of a yard, and some outside repairs, the condo is the way to go, many are even 3 bedrooms now! Congrats on your home, I know this is an older video, but you should be so proud of yourself!

My first purchase was a condo and I didn’t like it. It was mainly because I’m from the country in Texas and I am use to yard work and being outside putting in work into the house. The condo association fees were ridiculous....An extra $300 PER MONTH and all they did was upkeep the grass and pool. Those fees would increase each year as people moved out. I now own a single family home and I love it. It all depends on where you are purchasing your home. I finally moved back to Texas and made my purchase and I love it!!! It’s all about what you want!

I redid the kitchen cabinets and the master bathroom. I changed all the light fixtures, painted and decorated to my hearts content. I absolutely loved it. I got many compliments and even the exterminator who sprayed the building said nobody’s apartment looked like mine. It was always so clean. A lot of times we care too much about what other people think/may think (even if no one has verbally even expressed it to us lol) about a life, career or other decision. It’s important we do what’s best for us and what we can afford, whatever that may be.period. You don’t need to be sitting up in a big house, house poor crossing your fingers nothing breaks and be struggling, just to impress people you don’t know or who don’t matter...it’s your life and your coin and it’s also good to do what works for right now, who knows what the future holds, financially or otherwise. Congrats doll! I'm glad you're finding peace within the home buying process. It's been about 10 months since I purchased my town home and I'm just getting to that mental place where I'm realizing where God wants me to be is where I'll be. My mortgage is less than the apartment I was renting, and just like you said, you can never get that rental money back. Whereas when you're paying a mortgage, you're essentially living in your investment. You're paying for something you OWN. And don't feel bad about buying what some may consider an "apartment". You own that, boo boo. And it works for you! And if you decide one day it doesn't work for you, you can sell it and hopefully profit. You're not stuck. None of us are stuck. All is well. :-) xoxo

I am so proud of you, this is such a big accomplishment especially buying on your own. Nashville sounds like Oakland, CA right now. I completely understand feeling like your dream of buying a home in the city you were born and raised in would never come to fruition. Gentrification has completely made the market in Oakland unattainable for many of the city's natives. Somehow, i was able to purchase a single family home in this market 18 months ago. I, just like you, truly believe that Divine Intervention played a major part me finding my home and perfect lender. Unless other people are willing to pay your mortgage, the opinion of others does not matter. Congrats.

Villages have become desirable to the London elite, they buy holiday homes out here and barely live in them, meanwhile we who were born in these villages are having to leave to find houses because we've been out priced. I love this. Its interesting to hear your perspective and the process of choosing a home to buy. I'm 30 as well, I'm interested to buy a condo, I've always viewed condo's as the perfect first home for young people lol.

Bless your home. I'll buy if I move out of state because in NY- forget it. A new co-op, not even a condo is selling for $855K plus maintenance on my block which is becoming gentrified. And I am in Brooklyn.

You can find co-ops in Brooklyn under $250K especially if you have the 20% down payment most of them require. I agree though that you get more house outside of NY for less money.

Love the video! I know you said people are comparing the prices of homes in Nashville to NY,. No comparison! I’m from NYC, you get a lot more in other cities for your money than Ny..... We are one of the most expensive cities to live in in the USA!

See, I am 25 years old and still living with my mom. Ive NEVER moved out on my own because I've seen so many people struggle. She's helping me get my own condo and your doing EXACTLY what I want to do!! Why spend so much money on something that won't be yours in the end and will run you broke!? Loved watching this!!

I have to say we have the same knowledge!!! I am. I am 21 and currently looking for a townhome. My parents believe that I should get a condo! But I want a upstairs and downstairs. I am not too far from you in Kentucky and I’ve had lost about 4 different houses so the market is booming as well. And I am feeling the SAME EXACT WAY AS YOU. After watching this I definitely believe that God led me here because cause honey I was looking at these huge single family homes and getting overwhelming! Thank you so much ! I also subscribed and you will definitely see me more !

Congratulations!!! 😁😁😁 I also have a condo. I purchased my condo when I was 26 single and child free. I'm now ready for a single family home or townhome. My HOA management company drives me nuts with their rules and fees.

DO it, I was in same boat, garden style condo and I hated it, people above me and next to me, and constant stomping above me, will never buy this type of condo again! Switched to single family home and I am MUCH happier, more work, but that ok, I like yard work.

I am so happy for you! You inspired me. I myself and seeking to purchase my first home and I agree it’s a sellers market and I reside in Texas. But I’m definitely taking my time and listening to the Lord and praying for direction so I can make the best decision for Me!!! I can’t wait to see your home updates!!! 🤗🤗

This was so timely and helpful! Im going through the same process in the Chicago market. Like you, I felt like buying a condo was not like buying a “real” home. I had to look at my options based on where I’m at in life right now. I’m trying to decide between two condos and I am definitely seeking Him for guidance 🙏🏽. Congratulations and I will be watching for more helpful tips!

I'm a new subbie. I love your energy I was drawn to that and your sense of style. IN this video you spoke a word that I truly can relate to I have been through the exact same thing as far as being in perfect alignment with the will of God. When you are in perfect alignment with his will whatever your setting out to do will be done effortlessly, no stumbling blocks no bumps, no wrong turns. Everything will just flow, when that happens you know that your move is ordained by God himself and he is providing you with the best of the best. So I thank God for you being obedient you being faithful you maintaining your prayer life and listening to what God is saying to you and how he's directing you because that is how it goes. When you have issues and you find yourself struggling to try to do things that you want to do, should be a red flag that maybe this is not for me and maybe I need to step back and listen and wait for my clearance to move in another Direction

Hi, Brittany love ❤ your video. You made a lot of sense when you compared a single home cost -vs- a condo/townhouse cost. You're right there is a big difference in the amount to owning and maintaining the up keep of a house -vs- condo (or townhouse). A house you are totally responsible for the repairs, landscaping and other stuff. Whereas with a condo ( or townhouse) you pay a monthly fee for snow removal, grass cutting and trash clean-up. So, that's a plus if you're a single woman (or mom) and you don't have anyone to help you with those type tasks. And the amenities ( use of : pool, community room, park, playground, gym room, etc.) far out way paying for membership individually. It make sense to look at what options you have and which one will save you money in the long run. Great video loved it. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍

I appreciate your video so much. I stumbled across this video, lost it, and I've searched and finally found it again. I'm in the process of getting my own. Unfortunately I'm not surrounded by supporters so this video made me felt like...I had company. Someone who feels exactly how I feel and what I'm going through. I don't live in the US though, I really wish we could connect in some way but in the meantime, I just wanna say that I'm truly happy for you and may your home be blessed with love and awesome memories. Cheers to levelin' up my friend!!!!
