His emphasis is on the upward ictus, but fails to address the downbeat approach to the ictus. Thus his downbeat looks like an upbeat. The proper execution of a beat begins with an acceleration downward followed by an upward bounce to mark the ictus of the beat. This provides the visual que necessary for the performer to anticipate the timing of the beat.

You may use a mirrow at this stage. You should also try to control and feel your hands and body - to reach the required effect. It all may take some time.

I would like to know when is the beat? When you reach the bottom or when you leave the bottom? There is some time between those tho points, cause the hand rest at bottom for auite some time.
