Cursed suggestion: to do this playerless, instead of detecting breaking speed, detect Allays drowning based on Silverfish spawns! It's not exactly infinite because of the potion, but it can run for a long time

I mean... the only things that wouldn't be automatically farmable without players around is nether warts and blaze powder for the potion... everything else can theoretically be done in a chunkloader (only at specific locations but shh) Sand duper+carpet dupe=glass Glass can be autocrafted into bottles Bottle + water = water bottle Cobblestone + carpets = stone Brewing can be automated. Splashing the potions can be too. Nether wart and mob spawning sadly require a player to at least be nearby.

This reminds me of a mansion I made specifically to manipulate the villager AI's response to a bell so they function as a butler. There was no reason to have them as a base's wiring system, they were impractical as all hell but I had a great time making it work anyway. Useless redstone is the best redstone

10:30 is it actually reliable? the breaking speed detection is super cool, but at such small margins (13 ticks vs 14 ticks) i worry that a player's ping/connection stability could cause it to miss a bit of data if the player's client isn't able to send the breaking progress packets to the server exactly on time. you were testing with carpet bots, so you didn't have to deal with latency, but i'm curious how that would affect it in a _slightly_ more "real-world" use case this is still pretty cool and quite impressive that you got it to work at all with such an awkward mechanic (player potion effects) to try and detect via redstone.

Mining fatigue III (the max level) takes obsidian breaking time from 4.5 mins to like 20 hours (thanks Kenadian) which multiplies it by around 300-400 with a bit of mental math. Even mining fatigue 1 should be enough to get powdered snow time up to over 6 ticks, in fact you should be worried about how it might take too long (over 2 seconds as you mentioned).

This is also very doable without access to Frost walker; you use the cobblestone generator and give the player a mending pickaxe, then build a wolf-powered afk xp farm to continuously repair the pickaxe

Not necessarily, I can't ever know exacltly whenever the player recieved conduit power, I can only know if they recieved sometime before or during a cycle in which they break the ice. Thus, I can't have the machines sync automatically on a throwaway signal bit
