Coney Flats and Middle St. Vrain

We take a scenic offroad trip out to Coney Flats and Middle St. Vrain trail in our Tacoma, and drag along some friends in their Nissan, Ram Power Wagon, and a couple of Jeep Rubicons. We had a great day out and gave the rigs a workout.

Did anyone air down tires? I saw no sidewall deflection on these vehicles. Dropping air pressure helps a great deal even in wet muddy conditions. Drivers were slipping/sliding over easy terrain and shouldn't have been. Always air down. Real Rubicon Trail Runner

Yes sir. All of the rigs were running around 18-20 lbs except for the heavy Power Wagon. He tends to run around 22-24lbs since his rig is so heavy. He’s had some issue unseating beads so he doesn’t want to run too low. Thanks for watching.

I'll be visiting Colorado for the first time and my son and I are thinking about renting a side-by-side and hitting some trails. It would only be a half day and I'm leading towards MSV but there's so many options I'm overwhelmed. Normally I would want to pick something flat aand fast but I'm looking for a change of pace. What would you recommend if you're familiar with the area

MSV is great, and has good access to Coney Flats, and all of the trails at Bunce School Road including the T33a plane crash trail. All from a central parking area off of Highway 7 at the fire station.

Rode the first part a few weeks ago and took the hard line over the big rocks about half way up MSV. Got high centered, bashed the factory skids and almost got the rear drive shaft. Had to winch forward to get unstuck. Your advice from years ago was to use it until it breaks then upgrade. After that trip, I did talk the wife into all new skids!

Always get odd looks where I go dirting or mudding with the 4runner most ppl are indoctrinated here in Texas that only square body 4x4s are worthy of offroading then they realize we weight a whole truck less going up steep inclines lmao

Pretty sure that’s accurate. I think he’s getting me back for smashing his 4runner into a tree when his family was in the car.
