Hard to believe this was 50 years ago. This is the way I remember it. The sounds and smells were part of it too. Definitely a young person's day out with all the walking involved.

I came here expecting Brooklyn, NY but got Ohio instead. Did the Ohio Coney Island amusement park close because of Kings Island opening? KI has a section themed to Coney Island called Coney Island to 1980, Old Coney to 1986 then Coney Mall.

That would he correct. The flooding with the river always caused a lot of problems. Which is why kings island was built further north.

I think 1971 was like the last big year for Coney. King's Island opened in 1972 (I think) and sucked all the air out of all area amusement parks.
