I'm from Alabama and Robert the Bruce was my 20th Great Grandfather. Scotland and Dixie Forever!
@TheLeftHandOfGod9 ай бұрын
Thank You from Alabama. Representing my Scottish family heritage as a member of Clan Johnstone ... in America... as well as Clan Whitson. They arrived in Chowan County N.C. in 1680 and eventually migrated into Tennessee. Both sides fought for the CSA 20th Tennessee. Scottish Southern to the Core!!! The Clan Johnstone was once one of the most powerful of the Border Reiver Scottish clans.[3] They originally settled in Annandale and for more than six hundred years they held extensive possessions in the west of the Scottish Marches, where they kept watch against the English.[3] The first of the clan to be recorded was John Johnstone, whose son, Gilbert, is found in records after 1194.[3] Sir John Johnstone was a knight of the county of Dumfries.[3] He is found on the Ragman Rolls of 1296, swearing fealty to Edward I of England.[3] In 1381 his great-grandson son was appointed Warden of the Western Marches.[3] The Johnstons are believed to be of Norman and Anglo-Saxon descent. The great grandfather of John Johnston is Siward, Earl of Northumbria who is a Norse man who married Ælfflæd (Bernicia) of Northumbria. WHITSON. William Quhitsoun, Baillie of Perth in 1369, is doubtless the Willelmus de [wrongly] Qwhithosum, burgess of the same town in 1379. John Quhytson who witnessed a charter by Robert Mersar of Inuerpefery, 1454 , appears in 1456 as John Quhitsoun, burgess of Perth. In 1484 and again in 1498 the lands of Le Peblis in Angus were leased to Thomas Quhitsone . James Quhitsoun was witness in Fife, 1547, Thomas Whitson was notary and writer in Kirktoun of Ratray, 1688, Janet Whitson appears in Easter Caputh, 1693,and Thomas Whitson was an important man in Dundee in 1823. Quhytsoun 1458. Harrison suggests (1 ) White's son as meaning, and (2) for Whitsunday, a name given to one born on that day. This latter to me unlikely. First preferable. The local pronunciation of the name in Roxburghshire is Whutson. Taken from “Surnames of Scotland ”, by Black, The New York Public Library. Clan WHITSON Septs WHITESON WHITSON,-UN WHYSON WHYTSON

Soon after the surrender of the Confederate general Robert E. Lee in April of 1865, at the victory celebration in the White House, President Abraham Lincoln ordered the band to play "Dixie"!
@MGTOWPaladin Жыл бұрын
Lincoln's Presidential Proclamation NO. 81, April 19 1861, just five days after the evacuation of Ft Sumter. (Edited Version) "Whereas an insurrection against the Government of the United States has broken out -in the States of South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas, and the laws of the United States- for the *COLLECTION OF THE REVENUE (TAX MONEY)* can not be effectually executed therein comformably to that provision of the Constitution which requires *DUTIES (REVENUE TAX MONEY)* to be uniform throughout the United States:... *NOTE:* President Abraham Lincoln blames the "insurrection" on the collection of REVENUE TAX MONEY. Not on States Rights, politics, slavery or any other reason. In none of these documents does the Union Executive or Legislature refer to the secession of States as unconstitutional or illegal! Lincoln KNOWS that secession IS A RIGHT but because of REVENUE TAX MONEY, he refuses to allow the South to secede peacefully. Lincoln's Presidential Proclamation NO. 82, April 27 1861, a week after the previous Proclamation as more States seceded from the Union. "Whereas for the reasons assigned in my Proclamation of the 19th instance., a blockade of the ports of the States of South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas, was ordered to be established, and whereas, since that date, public property of the United States has been seized, *THE COLLECTION OF THE REVENUE (TAX MONEY) OBSTRUCTED,* and duly commissioned officers of the United States, while engaged in executing the orders of their superiors have been arrested and held in custody as prisoners, or have been impeded in the discharge of their official duties, without due legal process, by persons claiming to act under authority of the States of Virginia and North Carolina. An efficient blockade of the ports of those States will therefore also be established. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand, and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed. Done at the city of Washington, this 27th day of April, A.D. 1861, and of the Independence of the United States the eighty-fifth." ABRAHAM LINCOLN, By the President: WILLIAM H. SEWARD, Secretary of State. Crittenden-Johnson Resolution issued by the US House of Representatives, 25 July, 1861 four days after the defeat of the invading US Army at Manassas, VA (Bull Run). "Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Congress of the United States, That the present deplorable _civil war_ has been _forced_ upon the country by the _disunionists_ of the Southern States now _in revolt_ against the constitutional Government and in arms around the capital; that in this _national emergency_ Congress, banishing all feelings of mere passion or resentment, *WILL RECOLLECT **_ONLY_** ITS DUTY (REVENUE TAX MONEY) TO THE WHOLE COUNTRY;* that this war is not waged upon our part in any spirit of oppression, nor for any purpose of conquest or subjugation, nor purpose of overthrowing or interfering with the rights or established _INSTITUTIONS_ of those States, but to defend and maintain the supremacy of the Constitution and to *PRESERVE THE UNION (TREASURY),* with all the dignity, equality, and rights of the several States unimpaired; *and that as soon as these **_objects are accomplished_** the war ought to cease.*

@@lizzapaolia959 What do you think of Slavery?
@MGTOWPaladin Жыл бұрын
@abrahamlincoln2054 Slavery was legal under the Constitution: Supremacy Clause, Migration and Importantion Clause, Fugitive Slave Clause, 3/5 Compromise Clause, 4th Amendment, 5th Amendment, 9th Amendment, 10th Amendment and the Corwin Amendment. Slavery was recognized as legal by federal laws of Congress: 1794 Fugitive Slave Act, 1820 Missouri Compromise, 1850 Fugitive Slave Act, 1854 Kansas - Nebraska Act, etc. Slavery was recognized as legal by SCOTUS in their decisions, such as 1857 Dred Scott v Sanford based on the 5th Amendment. Lincoln recognized slavery as legal in his first Inaugural Speech, paragraphs 4, 6 and 9 (quoting the Republican Party Platform plank #4 in paragraph 6 and the US Constitution 's Fugitive Slave Clause here). "No person held to service or labour in one state, under the laws thereof, escaping into another, shall, in consequence of any law or regulation therein, be discharged from such service or labor, but shall be delivered up on claim of the party to whom such service or labour may be due." Lincoln's Presidential Proclamation NO.
