@@harlleygurrola8394in the early days of iwo jima US soldiers did not have an American flag to raise so they tied a small battle flag to a branch and hung it making it the first flag to fly in Iwo Jima.

@@SinoLegionaire A few were but certainly not all, one was a Pima native American by the name of Ira Hayes from Arizona, two of them were from the south, Harlon Block (Texas) and Franklin Sousely (Kentucky, if you count that as a southern state)
