This brings back memories when I worked at Walmart 😂😂😂 People refuse to let you work, constantly asking where they can find certain items, always giving attitude. Everybody but the team leads were acting like the managers. I experienced it all and I wasn't even on the floor technically, I was OGP. Love the hair, it's giving anime vibes

Worked at hy-vee (grocery store) for a few years when I was younger and my gawd was it bad. There was only one or two managers who actually seemed like human beings. One manager wrote someone up literally for wearing a gray sock UNDER pants, then for being 2 minutes late from break, and got him fired for not wearing a belt. I almost got written up for taking a 15 minute break after working 6 hours. My shift ended in 15 minutes and I decided to use the last 15 minutes for my break which I think I legally (it was stated in my contract when I signed on) I was supposed to get a 25 minute break. And this manager would start your break time as soon as he said “you’re on break.” Even if you still had customers in your line and you weren’t allowed to tell the customers to leave so you could go on break. So a few times I would see my friends get their “breaks” during peak times and not even get to step away from their register before the manager came around and said their “break” was over. After only two months, I said I’m taking a break to focus on school and never went back. I’m technically still on the employment registration, but I think they got the hint that I had enough. What especially ticked me off was when instead of giving their older employees (the ones who worked there out of necessity and probably would retire from that store) a bonus from all the penny pinching the company did to both employees and customers, they decided to put up flatscreen tvs as menus and pay an outside company to remodel the shelves when literally no one was complaining about how things looked. In fact, I hear from many people who still shop there that they can’t find where some items are because they keep moving them around. I was only paid $8.5/hr there and when i first started working, I was always sent out to grab carts. There was no way for them to tell me to come back inside because there weren’t any radios and the speakers didn’t reach outside so I just kept myself outside slowly pushing carts in for entire shifts sometimes purely to avoid the toxic atmosphere some of the managers created. My brother still works there and I have no clue why he does. He puts so much effort and passion into his work and he keeps being treated like a high school kid as if he’s just another disposable employee. I think most retail is bad in general to their employees, but hy-vee is one of the worst to their employees from my experience.

I absolutely hate working retail. I'm glad I left that industry early. I went into home healthcare for three years, worked as a bar back for two (at the same time) and went into manual labor for a year and a half now and going. Retail is the most depressing and annoying hell there is. Almost as bad as fast food. Surprisingly though, pizza joints are pretty fun gigs. My advice I always give: we can't all be ceos, doctors, lawyers, or entertainers. So, find a job that brings you joy along with money. Once you're good at what you do, and you enjoy it, raises will follow. I got 2 raises, both a dollar in my first year. And I'm looking at a supervisor position.
