First point Ali made : the hadith have come through the same path as the Qur'an. INCORRECT. The majority of sahih hadith are 'ahad hadith ' meaning only one person witnessed the prophet PBUH saying it. The Qur'an on the other hand was given through the living tradition (father to son, community leader to the people), everywhere continuously. It is THE MOST MASS TRANSMITTED BOOK IN HISTORY because it is verified through every major part of the historic Islamic world. The hadith were compiled by men 200 years after the prophet's death and many are not accepted by the different math'habs and sects. Each sect has their own version of how to follow the guidance. They become sects (Sunnis are a sect ). Second point: Ali said he accepts that a goat ate the parchment which supposedly had the verse commanding stoning. This IS A CONTRACTION as Allah has given examples of the disbelieving communities who either stoned people or threatened to stone the messengers/prophet's. Please please think why would Allah SWA tell you about disbelievers engaging with stoning and then give a verse commanding the stoning ??? Allah doesn't give guidance like this. If we all follow one book and one guidance we will all be one people and Iblis will in distress. Salaam and peace to everyone.

It's better to compare the hadith with the modern history books. It gives us a window on how the first followers interpret the Qur'an, that doesn't mean that their are no mistakes or falsification in it. It means that we can never put the hadith in the same importance as the Qur'an, and those that do that are misguided.

The thing about Quranists, they still have to accept the transmission from prophet Muhammad (saw) of the Qur'aan, its not as if the Qur'aan was brought down by angels or floated down from the heavens by itself. it was word of mouth from prophet Muhammad, so that means they shouldnt accept the Qur'an as well then?
