The wing is not being cut, but rather the feathers on the wing. When the trappers first catch the wild birds they use glue, or tie the feathers together, to disable the birds from being able to fly. The technique being used by our vet crew is called 'imping'. They remove a damaged feather and replace them with a new undamaged ones so the bird can fly again. And because feathers, for birds, are like hair for humans, it does not hurt the birds to do this.

Paritsdotorg Isn't it also know as the wing being clipped because I own a African grey great bird very friendly but when I first got him his wings had been clipped so he couldn't fly as good but they don't stay clipped for long
