I think there are much bigger stories on the client currently, like Clojurescript (also Elm and Purescript). And I am not talking about the languages alone, I'm talking about new ways of doing things. Just look at Om.Next for example.

"Maybe it's time to retire coffeescript." YES! I first started learning to code in JS well before I picked up Ruby + Ruby on Rails. CoffeeScript is NOT intuitive. Opal is what makes Volt most intriguing to me. I would love to see this go places, or to see Rails pick Volt or Opal up in a later version.
