Went down to Santa Rosa for a few days and shot a little in the downtown area. Had a nice interaction with someone who didn't want their photo taken.

Just encountered one, went on KZbin just to see if this happens on a day to day basis lol. Had an angry grandpa chase me down the streets for me to delete the photo, unfortunately, it was on film rather than digital and that made matters worse, then the grandpa got physical and pushed me around then proceeded to force me to call the police (which I loved), he eventually got taken away by the police as he practically just laid his hands on a minor (I’m not 18). Fun times, I low key loved the adrenaline. I’m totally okay though. But not gonna lie this gave me a little scare, not so sure about photographing grandpas from now on!

@@nicholas.6859 bruh its been a year lmfao. there are 8 billion people in the world. some people really think they're the center of the universe lmfao. it's always a good idea to be doing street photograhy with friends who got your back but it's good though that police got involved. if you took the photo in public space, i dont think youre violating any laws but then it depends on where you live. this incident shouldn't stop you from doing what youre passionate about :)) just take it as a life lesson

This just happened to me a couple of minutes ago. I took a pic of the dude dog because it was a nice dog. Right when I finished I told him his dog looked wonderful. I was walking away and he said he was calling me. I was listening to salsa in my AirPods so I couldn’t hear him until he full on screamed to get my attention. He said “what are you taking a picture for” I said “ Ima Up incoming street photographer” he said “ okay but you can’t take pictures of people’s property and leave” I said “sorry I could hear I had music playing” he said “next time answer.” Now I was calm and he was aggressive. I even suggest if he wanted me to delete the photo (I’m using digital camera) because the photo really that much of a thing I was worrying about. I really got adrenaline and my heart started pounding fast because he was a very aggressive man.😂😂😂😂

@@AngeloHinojosa Just put on a fixed 35mm equivalent lens, f2.8, will do, no need to spend over $1k to get another camera. With your zoom lens, not only it's big and catches attention, you'll also always end up taking more time to zoom in and out to compose. A lot of time, street photography needs to be quick.

I am a long time Street Photographer, my observation is, that you are using a large camera with a big lens….. this attracts the eye of any half suspicious subject… Could I respectfully suggest you study the method used by the famous Gary Winogrand… he always made it look as if he was adjusting his camera before he pressed the shutter…Also , acquire a small 35mm or equivalent lens … take a look at the Fujifilm X 100 V …a classic Street Tool….Inwish you well….stay safe.

Thank you for the advice. I am actually familiar with Gary Winogrand. Hah, what a clever technique he has. I’ve changed up my style and gear for street photography a lot since I posted this video. For the better of course. Perhaps I should do a bit more pov or something to show that.

Its much easier to just always agree with them. "Okay, sorry about that, ill try and keep that in mind next time" or even not even replying and walking away. Just sort of act like they dont exist. Its not deception, its just minding your own buisness and not looking for any trouble. Talking back or trying to correct them can lead to someone getting mad and retorting. Just listen to them if they scald ya, and apologize (even tho you know you did nothing wrong). In the end, you still get the shot. And who cares? Move on to the next shot.

Someone said it's because it's a big camera, which is sooooooooooooooooooooooo stoopid. I have a Pentax full frame and no one has come to me with that BS. Now you can feel free to express how you FEEL about the pictures and ASK me to delete them, yet it's my right to shoot in the public and my camera. Now when you threaten me, then it becomes a different conversation, or just some action about to happen. If my parents are not telling me what to do, then neither will the next person. If you bring aggression then what you get back in return is your fault. Now of course I am not on the drug dealer's corners taking pictures, because I am not doing law enforcement's job for them, yet like I said, That doe snot mean you get to even suggest that I get another smaller camera. How does that make logical sense anyway, since it still takes pictures you can blow up to 10x13 or whatever???? That is the mind of a dimwit...

@@jwally3706 plenty of Supreme Court cases back photography one example to your point about releases is Nussenzweig v. diCorcia. Taking photos of kids on a school yard while still a valid point is taking things to an extreme. While it may be considered strange behavior to a passer by it’s still protected so long as the photographer doesn’t step on the premises of the school. That turns into a trespass issue and not a photography issue.

You have no reasonable expectation of privacy in public places (or anywhere visible from a public place), it's protected under the first amendment to photograph and record in public for personal use--which has been tested in court multiple times. Likewise, you're also living in a world where every single person around you has a capable camera in their phone and they could be taking pictures of you incognito pretty much at any time, in addition to the CCTV and traffic cams and so on all over. Hobbyist street photographers are not malicious compared to many of those possibilities.

@@CatAvGuy Thank you for your schizophrenic diatribe. However, its not moral nor right to take photos of people like this. It is lawful, just not morally justifiable and its also privacy breaking to many
@CatAvGuy
@CatAvGuy 9 ай бұрын
"Schizophrenic," lol. I don't think you fully understand what that word means. I'm telling you why nobody will consider your hurt feelings regarding street photography. They can legally continue to do so (and they will, as it's a hobby they enjoy), you cannot legally forcibly stop them, any attempt to do so could be met with justifiable self-defense and/or prosecution. Legality trumps your personal feelings in terms of how others can and will behave. As I explained before, how could you possibly expect privacy out in the open in public spaces (exceptions like restrooms do exist), especially in light of the aforementioned recording devices all over? Is that what you thought was "schizophrenic?" The undeniably truth that we live in a world where there's feasibly a camera just about anywhere you might go? Trying to make this a moral issue is pointless pearl clutching and there's much more worthwhile hills to die on in a world as messed up as ours. Besides, I could easily make the moralistic counter-assertion that expecting others to change their harmless ways to accommodate you in particular is utterly selfish and entitled, and thus immoral as I see it. It would be pointless as I think this is all beyond you. You'd be happier if you didn't seek out innocuous things to moralize over. @@idkanymore3382
