Күн бұрын

At the conclusion of Brendan O’Neill’s tour of Australia with the Institute of Public Affairs he sat down with John Roskam to discuss why the elites are trying to censor Elon Musk, the failure of centre-right political parties to fight for freedom, and why we need to fight back against the assault on our values.
In the discussion, Brendan and John also discuss how Australia has become woke, and why the elites fear they are losing control.
Chief political writer for sp!ked, Brendan O’Neill has written for publications including The Spectator magazine, The Sun and The Australian.
Brendan is also the author of A Heretic’s Manifesto: Essays on the Unsayable, a clarion call on the need for dissenting voices to challenge the ideologies of elites and the political class.

Anti is a word used to silence debate. We should be allowed to talk about things, question it, get answers. Questioning things uncovers lies.

Plato said democracy was the worst form of government. The best form of government is a leader who truly loves his people and the country, and we won't find them among politicians

“People don’t like to be told what to do, they think for themselves”. I’m sorry Brendan but that’s just not true of Australians anymore. During the Covid years Australians absolutely did what they were told and showed no sign of thinking for themselves. They also took on a Stasi like penchant for informing on their neighbors to the police for infractions of covid orthodoxy. It was shocking to witness.

In my state schools closed very briefly in the beginning. And where I live rurally, that was that. Nobody really social distanced. Nobody wore masks. And nobody dobbed because everyone broke minor rules, including the local cops. Vaccines is when government over reach began.

Shocking indeed those Covid years and utterly gob-smackingly astounding that so many Aussies willingly and meekly submitted to uber authoritarianism. I migrated to Australia because of their irreverent, larrikin and open natured attitude, so different from the cowed Brits, hence my shock during Covid. I am a proud heretic. Thank you Brendan for your incisive mind and plain speaking. A wonderful talk. Many thanks again! ❤

@@patscott6365 As I said that didn't happen in my region. But when the vax came these good rural people were naive about how little government cares about us. And it was horrific. Even living in the city I only ever knew one woman who'd had a stillborn baby. Now I know 3 in one street. I know a 12 yo with a bad heart condition. And dozens in their 50s who've had heart attacks and strokes. For a while they treated the jobless non compliant dreadfully. But now they regret. Most people in the UK could still work, we couldn't work, our children couldn't see doctors and our pets couldn't see vets. We didn't give in to go to a movie, a pub or cafe. I know a woman whose eight year old daughter broke her arm. She had to get it so they would set and plaster her daughter's arm. The Brits said horrible things to us online. From memory Brandon was pro 💉. Just more on the list. Never forgive, never forget.

The problem is ethnocentricity, a fancy word for tribalism. The blessing we Christians receive every Sunday is the gift, thanks to St. Paul, of universalism. We are post-ethnocentric i.e. worldcentric consciousness. Whether we live up to it every day is our challenge. So,bluntly, I'm not anti-Semetic, I'm post-Semetic. Btw, there is little attention given to the tens of thousands of Christians in Israel, Gaza, the wider middle-East, and Africa suffering terribly from ethnocentric persecution. Not a peep from the "Chatter Class" of the West. ❤🇨🇦

The GREATEST GIFT apart from the Gift of ETERNAL LIFE -- given to those who receive Jesus as their Lord and Saviour -- is the GIFT of FREEDOM OF CHOICE. This means we are not created to be puppets, dancing to someone else's tune, but that if we MAKE the WRONG DECISIONS, we HAVE THE FREEDOM to CHANGE OUR MINDS. In the 1950s, when I was in high school, one of our teachers told us that, "Within every GREAT CIVILIZATION are the SEEDS of ITS OWN DEMISE". I NEVER DREAMED that I would EXPERIENCE the DEMISE of MY OWN CIVILIZATION, which has been in existence for 2000 years, SINCE the BIRTH of CHRISTIANITY. The question is, WHAT has caused the DISINTEGRATION of our Western Society?

I am tired of opposition parties that always spin the narrative back to the negative. Its not a debate, i take the affirmative you take the negative. Good governance is parties coming together with a plan for the countries wellbeing and its past, present and future. Current party line politics isnt working, it causes division. Which then causes instability.

I bet parliamentarians don't lose that much in their taxes 🤔

Top tax rate is 45 cents in dollar over $180,000. You can drop that if you salary sacrifice to superannuation goes down to 15 percent when you withdraw.. So there are ways to lower your tax. And most people in that tax bracket find ways to reduce by all manner and means.
