@@hyperrandom7665 I think he acted extremely unethically with reckful and is culpable for his death because as a physician he had a duty of care which he did not fullfill. The main ethical breach was that he blurred the line between therapist, friend and work colleague. As a therapist it needs to be crystal clear whether you are, or you are not someone's therapist. Reckful mentioned several times that he viewed Dr.k as his therapist and Dr.k allowed him to feel this way because he was getting a lot from reckful. Dr.k thought he was above the rules and on a more personal note I just don't feel like he really cares that much about the people he talks to and I think it is potentially damaging to anyone to talk with him in a psuedo-therapuetic way, especially on stream.

Once I finished the podcast I went and stared at a wall for an hour like Dr. K said at 1:40:14. I felt like I really needed that time to slow down and think about where I'm going in life and what my goals and motivations are. Once my mind calmed down some 10 minutes into staring at the wall I really started deeply thinking about everything in my life and what I want as well as what my short term goals should be and how I'm going to achieve them. Needless to say, that hour of staring at a wall, alone, with nothing but my thoughts was much needed and I feel like my mind is much clearer now for the time being. 10/10 would recommend.

The swap from "4 guys jerking off on a biscuit" to actually contributing to the conversation was kinda drastic. I think he realized just moments after saying it that that level of conversation would have been such a waste of potential with Dr. K. I mean, nobody interviewed Einstein to ask him about sandwiches. All 4 of them are obviously intelligent, or extremely lucky, but Dr. K is in a league of his own here. I would say he and Destiny are on par but with different perspectives and qualities. And that's a guy who held his own "against" Slavoj Zizek. There is no higher echelon, basically.

@@Sandlund93 i really liked asmon's questions and introspectives on his own problems. He normally brushes everything off by saying it is what it is, "everyone is crazy except me" or "im the only sane person in this society that lost his mind" regarding his situation/problems. Also i feel like he managed to bring the best he could out of K and drove the conversation into the right topics. I dont know about applying or putting into use any of it tho
@Sandlund93
@Sandlund93 6 ай бұрын
@@seizera7586 Yeah, you could tell that he came prepared. He obviously respects Dr. K a whole lot. I believe Asmon visited his channel on at least 2 occasions when he really needed it. That's the kind of appreciation that usually lasts a lifetime, when someone gives you the tools to start enjoying life again. I think it's a personal journey, though. So even if many cases are similar, everybody needs their own tools. Trying something you heard in a YT video might work but never as much as sharing your own story with a professional. They can tailor a strategy over several months, which is obviously gonna make more sense than relating to someone else's situation. Even on Dr. K's channel we rarely get to explore the full story because you can't do that in 2 hours.
@effjesse_
@effjesse_ 2 ай бұрын
@@Sandlund93 I liked your comment because you clearly respect not just intelligence but reason, but I take issue with you saying Destiny (who I respect) held his own 'against' Zizek, cuz like nah and also it wasn't 'head to head' enough to have that conclusion. I massively disagree with more of Zizek's takes than Destiny's I think, but Zizek is head and shoulders above even Destiny (who I respect) in philosophy. Also Dr K is way above Destiny in knowledge, maybe even a bit in reason, and definitely in both consciousness and compassion. Destiny is better than both those guys at gaming though, and is still close enough to them to be mistaken (reasonably!) for being at their level, so still someone that I think deserves admiration. Thanks for reading my comment, I love sharing my opinions unprompted to strangers on the internet and in the youtube comment section specifically.
@Sandlund93

@@effjesse_ Yeah, if I had to rank them I would put them in the same order as you did. Which makes sense, considering their age. The best part of it all is that we can listen to all three of them, along with everybody else we decide is worth our time. But yes, in retrospect I have to admit that your comment was a bit more thought out than mine. I wanted to make a bit of a spectacle because I was so impressed that Destiny got to discuss with Zizek. You could tell that he was nervous.

Its a skill you have to build. It's based on a few things: do you feel a need to be the center of attention? Do you have many unresolved problems? Do you care more about yourself than others? What is your goal in a conversation? Not to mention childhood experiences with parents, siblings, etc. With practice, you can do it, but I find that its easiest when you've already sorted yourself out and set your goal to be the betterment and aid of others. I typically do this, partly because I had a course in my psych program that focused on that, but also having sorted myself out decently well through meditation, therapy, and psychedelics. As such, I tend to feel like other peoples words matter more because they're usually not living in the present and have many conflicts that deserve to be addressed. Others that aren't there I will just have normal conversations with.

@@Xemptuous Yea no doubt. I definitely am the extroverted, entertainer guy in general. But i'd say for me its probably most of all, that i want to help and get very excited and eager to jump in, when i feel i can say something to help them out. @@t1mwesterhausen The difference is that Dr. K is not in it to help people. His purpose is to help people help themselves. Because he knows that that is the only thing that lasts. I think they actually really learn from each other, all the bouncing ideas, feelings and philosophies back and forth!! I also seriously think Asmon is far 'wiser' than he tends to let on. Of course he likes to joke around and be a part time degenerate which we love about him 😊 But I think he actually deep down had much more emotion than he allows himself to either feel or show people. I've grown up being a caretaker for my parents like he has, and that type of life is very unique and can make you build up so many walls against emotions. I just recently started watching your videos and it's interesting too see yall talking about some of this stuff. I was raised by a borderline parent and last year i got diagnosed with a few things that kinda opened my eyes. I used to come off narcissistic all the time and i couldnt figure out what the difference between confidence and narcissism. I was diagnosed with borderline tendencies cause i have the flip of everything in my head from questioning why are things the way they are. It then led to black outs during parts of my life as i developed Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). I find that i have this being inside that is a god, but then this flip of being absolutely nothing. The borderline community was a nice place to read as i didnt feel as alone. We focus so hard on others building us up, and we cant handle being torn down. Atleast in the moment, or if I trigger during something bad enough i wont remember it. Streaming was one of the best things i did for myself because the dopamine and fun of streaming and chatting was amazing. To just be myself and to have people love to watch me be me. I felt like i was never good enough for mine and it is still hard to this day for me to not want that type of attention from my parents. I do also turn off so that i dont hog attention, cause i used to just be an attention whirlwind doing stuff and i didnt know it for a long time. Even to me now I think about the fact that i feel like ill be viewed as making this post about myself and question the way i think. 😅 Anywho i love all you guys and the way yall think and look at the world! Honestly the best episode yet and it's not even close. I like listening to these 3 talk about their gaming, real life, and general degeneracy, but having someone on like Dr. K that's kind of in that sphere, but is also an accomplished doctor that can provide insights into different subjects within that sphere is just awesome. Honestly I wish they could add him in as a permanent part of the podcast lol.

This was an absolutely fascinating conversation. I feel that a lot of these topics are not discussed or studied enough and would love to hear more, as you four are able to provide a unique perspective that you don't get to hear from on a routine basis just due to the nature of what you all do for a living. You may all be really successful, but you still deal with a lot of the same mental issues that we all experience that we may just not know how to voice or we may not even have someone to discuss it with that can relate.

Beautiful comment my friend ❤ At the end of the day, we are all human and no matter what, we all have to face the same basic emotional anguish at differing degrees. Knowing we are all in the same boat in that way, is very comforting and helps us relate and love each other more bit by bit 😊 ❤❤❤

It's always amazing listening to Dr. K because he always says some shit I never heard before but when he says it, it instantly makes sense. Not like vague affirmations that every motivational speaker says. He actually inspires you through logical conclusions about real data and psychology.

Great content as always but the volume level has been too low on a few episodes including this one. At 18:17 there’s an extremely loud bass thump out of nowhere from what I can assume is someone accidentally hitting the mic. I have to turn the volume all the way up and that shit almost blew my speakers out.

The conversation about discipline was interesting to me. I've been placing more focus on my self-awareness and mental health for the last two years and one of the things I just discovered relates to this. I have always struggled to have the 'discipline' to sit down and work on art --even though it's something that's important to me in many ways. What I figured out, is that I was failing at discipline was because my emotions were dysregulated, either because I was caught up in daily stressors, or because I was stuck in a 'dopamine-chasing mode,' which would usually involve reading or playing video games to the point that I would spend the whole day on it instead of the hour, or whatever amount of time I had initially set aside. What I'm getting at is that discipline wasn't really a part of this equation anywhere. Basically, I was out of touch with what was happening with my mental / emotional state, so no wonder I was failing to manage my actions as a result. It's like not realizing you're angry and wondering why you feel the random urge to punch things. It wasn't as obvious until I realized what was actually happening, I thought it was more about "not being in the mood" for doing something. So, I just attributed it to a lack of motivation. However, I realized that I was not even doing activities for which I had plenty of motivation. Getting a different job, working on my portfolio, learning how to play guitar, dating... All of these things I have a lot of interest in that were just constantly pushed to the side. In short, I was able to finally break out of this cycle, which, up until this point has been the norm for my entire life, by using basic meditation. Bringing my emotions back to a regulated state was like a reset that enabled me to focus on meaningful activities. I've even been able to do it when I have that "not in the mood" feeling, because all I have to do is stop, sit there, and focus on breathing / a mantra for 20 minutes (that's my duration of choice, but I'm sure different lengths, either shorter or longer, work for others). This is becoming such an integral skill and habit for me at this point, that I wish there had been someone there to teach it to me years ago. There are so many important skills we need as people and a society that are still overlooked or not well-known, even though they could be of great benefit to everyone.
