I’m a historic architecture photographer who travels around Michigan. Here in America it’s perfectly legal to take photos of houses and buildings if you’re on the street or sidewalk. I’d say 95% of people are ok with what I do, seeing how the subjects I focus on are architectural works of art. Last summer I had a black man from two houses down from a home I was shooting threaten to kill me if I took a photo of his house; which was a rental BTW. I told the man he could have just said not to on a non hostile way and I’d have been more than happy to honor his demand. I have had many people on my FB group try to tell me what I’m doing is illegal, which can be confirmed on Google in one minute that it’s not at all. Even when people learn it’s not illegal, they still double down based on their feelings and try to shame me.
