1:26 In Czechia controllers say “AFTER passing” to avoid confusion - don’t know if it’s officially what they need to say.
@caiolinnertel8777

The controller saying 1,100 is not a radar verification, it's the controller repeating what he sees. The pilot needs to say an altitude and the controller has to observe it on his display to verify Mode C altitude accuracy. Radar contact is the "Ident". Other ways of identifying radar is a turn, change transponder code, within 1 mile of the runway. The rest of what you say is OK. I'm a 30 year air traffic controller.

Here in Aus, the controllers use the word “leaving” and not passing as that word is used by pilots to notify ATC what level is being passed for Ident. Using “leaving” reduces confusion with “passing”.

"Once past 1,700..." or "after passing 1,700.." would be much more clear.

Not sure if it specifies in the 7110, but I would think “upon reaching” would be much clearer phraseology than “passing”

That instruction would be 5,000% clearer with the addition of one word "UPON" passing. When I first heard it (never been in this situation) my brain definitely heard it as the inverse of my "1,100 feet climbing 1,700 feet" (though it makes less sense with the altitudes given, my brain still went there). Just adding UPON passing would make this SOOO much clearer.

The MVA is like a closely guarded ATC secret. We have no routine access to that information. Not a problem, but curious.

It would be so much safer if the controller would simply add, " 1700 feet, fly 090..."

At 3:12 you mention that controlled airspace starts here at 700 feet AGL; how do you come to that?
@flightinsight9111
@flightinsight9111 Күн бұрын
College Park Airport (and indeed the entire Washington DC area) is inside a large shaded region denoting Class E airspace beginning at 700 AGL, rather than the 1200 AGL it starts at outside those shaded regions.

@@flightinsight9111 You are right! I would have never noticed that, for you really have to zoom out to notice that. Not very clear and by you mentioning this, I have to be more observant; and many others probably with me. There should be more focus placed upon this cloaked airspace in ground school. Thanks for your input and reply.

Easy... controlled airspace is when it switches from class G to E. You should be on that heading when entering class E.

at 1700, you turn fly heading 090

I assure you that when told "enter controlled airspace on heading 030", the controller does NOT want for you to level out until you finish that turn that you just started a few hundred feet ago. Simply be in the act of turning to that heading when you get above 700ft AGL (most often where E begins surrounding the airport).

My personal opinion I used to fly I have a private pilot's license flew some aerobic aerobatics in a pits that I owned and work towards my commercial and instrument rating and one of the things that really turned me off was the language and the jargon it's so complex so convoluted and so potentially can be misconstrued because of the speed of the language the confusion you have pilots that are foreign pilots that don't understand it I mean ok you're missed approach is a convoluted exercise unless you're a pilot with thousands of hours and continually flying that same course and routine trip otherwise if you're new to the airport and you're flying that's why so many accidents happen the tasks are burning someone you're in weather and you're a single pilot in command I think the whole system is just so flawed yes it's been around for many years but I think it should be a simple or much simpler system technology I think is probably making it that but then you have people flying approaches with their GPS and causing accidents I enjoy watching or listening to the accident replays for for learning it's sad that so many accidents are happening commercial and private pilots. I no longer fly nor will I fly commercial bowling overlooking 20 some safety checks errors being made because of the electronics because of the fly by wire so many accidents out there I mean losing total control the airplane due to electronic failure a Brazilian flight reach 50,000 ft because the trim tab they couldn't overcome the true time and otherwise it was going to go into a spiral they managed to override it somehow I mean crazy stuff like that there's something we're on the brink of 0:00 0:00 I think major major technologies however you had to be one bomber three computers on it it crashed because the two computer said it's okay and one said no and it was a pitot tube hadn't been serviced properly coming from Guam to St Louis at 7,000 mi trip the plane was left out in the hangar and the picture got clogged up or something to that effect so I mean that's a billion-dollar airplane Case in point I'm using the voice feature here and it doesn't understand what I'm saying I'm trying to speak slowly but it misinterprets what I'm saying God help us
