We prefer airbnbs. You must read reviews and check the distance to all attractions. You can also book hotels or hostels as you prefer. We stayed in a hostel this time. For connectivity we always use google maps, it shows train numbers, route, alternatives like buses etc. once you reach a train station you can get your tickets or take help from the help desk or even locals there.
