The MallTuFF'S like to pretend that they are a dynamic force in the world of Heavy Metal, infused with the eclectic vibes, electric sounds, and memories of their daily escapades at the local mall located at The Gate of the North during the 1990s. Founded in 2023, the band members of The MallTuFF'S, Chuck Womack- (guitar extraordinaire, Slapper of Da' bass, and Keyboard sounds) along with Ryan Sides -(Drums, Keyboards, Samples, and other things that make noise) have an extensive history that dates back to their formative years. In the early 1990s, they roamed the mall corridors with friends, conquered arcade games, savored the days of twenty-nine cent hamburgers at McDonald's, played uncensored UNO tournaments at Glenn Genes Deli, and skateboarded in Target's parking lot.
While officially formed in 2023, The MallTuFF'S story is deeply intertwined with the rich tapestry of the 1990s music scene. Chuck and Ryan, with their knack for jamming, often found musical inspiration after their mall excursions. These memories became the backdrop for their creative journey, where they blended their love for the mall culture with the raw power of Heavy Metal.
Musical Style:
The band's sound is a reflection of their shared experiences, featuring Chuck's axe-playing ninja skills on the guitar and Ryan's thunderous drumming, inspired by his determination to win the Uncensored UNO tournament at Northgate Mall. The addition of some bass slapping adds an extra layer of groove to their madness.
Influences:
Their musical influences range from the relentless aggression of Slayer (SLUR RULZ!!!) to the glam rock swagger of Motley Crue, the tribal rhythms of Sepultura, the psychedelic atmospheres of Pink Floyd, the thunderous power of Metallica, the melodic finesse of Kip Winger, the theatrical insanity of Gwar, and the gritty allure of the original VHS cover of "I Spit on Your Grave" at The Video Stop.
Achievements:
Throughout their collective careers, members of The MallTuFFS have achieved remarkable milestones. Winners of the 2001 Best Heavy Metal Act at the Chattanooga Independant Artists Awards in their former group "Pistol Whip". They've shared stages with bands like Gwar, MachineHead, Mastodon , The Step Kings, Dog Fashion Disco, and many others while playing shows all across the southeastern United States.
Among the standout tracks in The MallTuFFS's repertoire is the thunderous anthem "Powdered Teeth," a song that encapsulates the relentless energy and raw power that defines the band's unique blend of Heavy Metal.
When Chuck isn't rocking out at church and Ryan isn't too busy being a Dad, they come together to create pure madness and brutality-induced grooves. With their rich history as the backdrop, The MallTuFFS is excited about the future, promising more exciting music and live performances in the days ahead.
