Oh my God. This is the exact router I am using and I stumbled on ur video as I was confused about where to plug the antennas into
@danv203 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the video. Odd results. Make sure there's nothing to shield the antenna like a metal roof or metal elements nearby. In a very remote area with the smaller brother TP-Link MR400 v3 and a similar antenna i managed to improve my connection speed three times, from a maximum of 1 mb/s to 3 mb/s with a much more stable connection.I also noticed the wi-fi coverage was better with this type of external antenna. Cheers!

Nice vid! I just picked up the TP-Link MR-100. I can already feel myself sliding down the rabbit hole. I've managed to find the government GIS that shows me where all the radio infrastructure is in my area. The signal we receive doesn't make sense given the proximity of towers and number of them. So my guess are line of sight problems. Now looking into rigging up an external antenna to try improve reception of the B3 band. Thanks for giving me an idea for what kind of equipment I'll be requiring!

The point of having an extended antenne is for outdoor use. Outside the metal roof on top of house on wall or roof of caravan, other side of brick wall. A tower needs to be in line of sight. The outside antenne needs to be water proof because your router is not.

This is an external antenna. 5 meters of cable dampens your signal. The antenna is not used to amplify the signal, but to relocate the point of its reception. No wonder there is no significant improvement if it stands in the same position as the router. You should install the antenna in a place where you have the best possible coverage. Then you can place the router within 5 meters. If it is a place that hinders the reception of the WiFi signal, you can buy a second router and transfer the signal with a cable or PowerLine adapters. I live in the countryside where the internet proposed by the suppliers is 4-8Mbps, but I made a home network from a cheap D-Link router (max.150Mbps) and a Huawei E3372 modem glued to the window in the room with double-sided tape, where the transfer reaches 60Mbps and PowerLine transfers the signal to the other part of the house to the second router.
