Hi, your video is very useful, thanks... I have a question: How far could the utp cable power 2 cameras without voltage loss ?
@PoseidwnTech3 жыл бұрын
In some of our installations we used up to 80 meters cable without any problem, but for longer distances we give power to the cameras locally. For example we installed cameras in a house and the customer wanted to add also 2 cameras in a storage room. The distance between the storage room and the DVR (house) were more than 100 meters. So we used 1 utp cable for the video signal but we installed a DC Power Supply (with battery backup) inside the storage room in order to give power to the 2 cameras.

I often wondered how UTP long runs don't lose voltage since the wire guage on utp is so thin. The doubling up of a PAIR to each pole of the power feel is a great idea i think. Minimizes the line loss due to thin wire.

@haydnthomasfilmscorporate15533 жыл бұрын
Is there a specific reason why you only double up power and not video?
@littleturtlepizza Жыл бұрын
@@haydnthomasfilmscorporate1553 because the voltage on video line is lower but yes, you can double the video if you consider it as long as you still have another pair of wires unconnected
@taterbell9507 Жыл бұрын
Because the camera's do not pull a big load (amperage). Electrical load is the cause of voltage drop. A wire can be run for miles and if nothing is connected to it you'll have the same voltage at both ends. If you start connecting items to it at the end of the wire you will eventually see voltage drop.

@xXFOYXxQ82 жыл бұрын
The guy clearly doesn't pay attention to answer the comments, but I don't mind to give a definitive answer to your question. It depends on the voltage. If your camera (check the label sticker on the camera unit/box) takes 12 volts and only needs (required) 1 amps or maybe 1.5 amps, don't worry if you put a power supply with 12 volts and 3 amps or 5. The voltage where you have to be picky and careful. I use 2.5 amps just in case the power supply gets weak over time due to our extremely hot weather (Middle-East). I hope I answered your old unanswered question throughly!

It depends on the charger amperage. Usually one camera draws 0.5A of power, so you'd be safe with a charger with 0.5A or higher output. If you do have a 3A charger, in theory you could hook up 6 cameras, but I wouldn't do that. I would say only 3 cameras are safer.

Two pairs are always better than one. CCTV with two pairs in the balun gives a certain amount of redundancy in case one pair breaks. This is especially relative and important when installs are carried out in this configuration in cold countries. If installation takes place in very cold conditions, one pair can break very easily as Cat cable becomes extremely 'brittle' in the cold. Also freezing temperatures can lead to a break in the Cat cable inside any enclosure that the connections are housed in outdoors if there is any significant tension on the cable due to a tight fit. In both cases two pairs are far better than one. As using one is just laziness by the installer to be honest!
@nanocube2 жыл бұрын
"It is critically important that you DO NOT double up on the pairs going into the baluns. Ehternet cable is UTP cable with specific twists in the cable, having two pairs can cause interference and video loss, especially on longer runs. You must only use one pair, not two." ... from kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKTReGBuitqci5Y

nice way if you want to save some money from the cables.. but what happens to HD cameras with 3 or 5 Megapixels? you may have loss in image quality. for long distances you can use a dvr that gets 2 or 4 extra ip cameras so you don t have to use signal cable at all.. for any other installation i think that nothing is compared with the classic coaxial camera cable.
@PoseidwnTech3 жыл бұрын
I haven't noticed any image loss even in higher megapixels cameras. The only problem with long distance it's the DC Power. I agree about the coaxial cables but with the UTP cable it's easy to upgrade your system from analog to IP while with the coaxial you can't.
@djftn3 жыл бұрын
@@PoseidwnTech it depends on what type of system you want to build. best thing you mentioned is that at long distances you can use an additional power suply pluged where the camera is located. no power loss at all.. At my location nobody is using ip cameras because at a 24mbps connection the upload speed is 1mbps an the download 13. only a few locations have faster internet than this. the dvr's also downgrade the resolution so the image flows properly. only hikvision dvr's run pretty well

Hello there! I want to know if I can apply this type of connection for my analog camera to connect it to my NVR. So the idea is to have only one end of the UTP cable with video balun and the other end of the cable to have RJ45 to connect to the switch. Would that work????
@PoseidwnTech2 жыл бұрын
Not with these baluns! You will need an analog to IP converter but in my opinion does not worth it.

At 40+ meters with Cat6 cable you will not have any problem. But after 80 meters you will have to check.

How come you can use this for 2 camera? Do you mean one of camera has no power? You already use 3 out of 4 pair
@PoseidwnTech3 жыл бұрын
We use common power for the two cameras. For example : Brown Pair --> DC + and Blue Pair --> DC - for both cameras, Orange Pair --> Video Signal Camera 1 and Green Pair --> Video Signal Camera 2

Χρειάζεται να περάσεις UTP καλώδιο αλλά θα ήταν καλύτερα να πάρεις τη γνώμη ενός ηλεκτρολόγου.
