I have made over 200 paracord paracord bracelets and out of those I have used fused paracord for only 2. I was so thoroughly disgusted with the results of those bracelets that I swore never to fuse paracord ever again and so I devised other methods of making two color bracelets. The method that you used in your video is freakin' awesome. Thank you so much for he tutorial.

Thanks for suggesting putting a fid in the cord before melting the end. That produces a much better hole.
@Plumeria_Queen10 жыл бұрын
I discovered this method some time ago and absolutely loved it! It never comes apart and it makes for a good piece of mind when selling my items! There's nothing worse than having my joined cords break apart halfway through a project!! TIP: make sure you have your sharp scissors to make the little notch otherwise you'll end up with an awful fray and have to melt more than you really want to. Thanks Shawn for putting this out there!! :)

Thanks for sharing. I do poke the needle through the other way first to make a needle hole, then do it like you as I don't trust myself to not put the needle straight through my hand. What a brilliant idea.

Excellent video! I've been joining paracord by the cut 'n melt method for a long time, and this method is much stronger by far.
@realcrashjr9 жыл бұрын
Doesn't this method lose the strength of the 7 individual strands inside? They were cut, but only the outer sheath of each length of paracord were attached.
@walterego23149 жыл бұрын
+Russenator1983 Yes, I would say for decorative purposes only, but it does look pretty neat for bracelets etc. Just as long as you don't undo them and trust your life to them!!!!
@vreer46019 жыл бұрын
+Walter Ego -chuckles- I don't think I would trust my life to any of the ones that are fused together somehow. if I did need something for that weight I would prooooooobably unravel them and take the two sections apart if there were no other options

I am looking to see if there is a way to do this to a project that u need more cord for the project while it's already on the project. I'm making a coozie and instead of all one color, I was hoping to have a couple different colors, but I can't seem to connect them together except burning unless I measure it out and just do it all before hand.

Bored, which type of paracord stitching needle did you use for this video? I can't tell if those are Type I or Type II needles you used. And thank you for showing this method with the needle already inserted then burning the frayed edges, that seems much easier to navigate and perform.

how's do the inner strands just go back inside magically? I have to pull the inner strands from the other end to get the "hollow" or gutted space to run the fid through.

What brand of fid are you using? I bought a cheap fid online, and I’ve been able to do this join but it is awfully difficult to push the fid into the paracord- not nearly as easy as it seems on your video!
@fredandcheryl944 жыл бұрын
Maybe modify fid Put in a drill and either use a file or sandpaper to make fid just slightly thinner and still be able to take 550.

is the core still in the bracelet? or is it out.
@vreer46019 жыл бұрын
+Nativeborn2285 the core is still in the bracelet, you aren't pulling out the core entirely, you are just cutting an inch or less on each side, less if you really wanted to, just to make it so you have the two ropes blend together on one side nicely

where can i get the fids. can i get them any where at a craft shop??? I live in hawaii and its very hard to find a craft shop. but i can always search for one. just wondering if it can be found at any craft shop.
@vreer46019 жыл бұрын
+Mark Raiden I went to amazon, honestly. I think He sells them on his site, but you want to do some research on the fids and also see what kinds you would moste likely like, there are a variety of fids out there. I have never seen them in a shop offline though. I think it is just "dude, no many people are asking for em, but enough that we need to stock em.... Lets put it on our website!!!"

Don, I use an awl the I use for leather working. The point is sharp and parts the outer sheath of the paracord very nicely. Have your fid ready to insert into the hole that's left by the awl.
