@@Duprii Actually....Clark is making Indiana on the verge of the worse team this year. Last year with the offense running thru Boston, Indiana improved from on 5 wins in 2022 to 13 wins in 2023 and finished in 10th place. Phoenix and Seattle actually finished behind Indiana in 11th and 12th place last year. Clark has Indiana on pace this year to go BACKWARDS by winning less than the 13 games they won last year. If it happens, Clark will be the first over-all #1 draft pick to make her team lose MORE after they drafted her than the previous year without her - a VERY DUBIOUS WNBA RECORD.
From what I just watched, the fever seemed to play a bit better once Clark was benched. Everyone will hate on their coach for benching CC, but I think she made the right call on this one.

The Indiana fever improved a lot last year; they went from 6 wins in 2021, 5 wins in 2022, to 13 wins last season, and from the way things look like, they won't even get 10 wins this year just bc some people are trying to push a player who obviously is not pro ready. Clark can be a good player in this league, but they need to let her learn instead of trying to shove her to everybody's throat.

@@markahern9642 To be honest, Sides went from 5 to 13 wins last year, so she's done her job. Regarding the 1st pick of this year, it was an economic success, but from a basketball point of view, nothing worse could have happened to her, IMHO
@waldolydecker81187 ай бұрын
@@FabrizioPati-i6f - agree with your excellent points, but would add the reason the team is on a backwards path from 5 wins to 13 wins to this year less than 13 is that Indiana has become an albatross to "the Clark Show." Clark's economic success and media driven high profile has somewhat forced the Indiana coach to reverse last year's offense that flowed thru unanimous rookie of the year Boston, and shift it out to the 3-point line to feature Clark logo shots to please the crowd and all the "new eyes." This offense might have worked at Iowa against Big Ten college amateurs, but it won't beat top teams in the Pros. The two-time defending champion Vegas team and all the other top WNBA teams are dominant in the post...sure, they shoot 3's as well, but they first establish their post play. Former NCAA scoring record breaker Kelsey Plum already figured it out...at the Pro level somebody is going to have to break the news to Clark that she is going to have to do less shooting and more emphasizing her post players and other things - defense, assists, less turnovers, etc - to win games. After every game, the ESPN and Clark fans keeps yapping about Clark's "personal stat line," but what the record shows after 13 games is that her personal stat lines for the most part have no impact on the TEAM winning. Continuing to do the same thing and expect different results is what many people call "the definition of stupidity."
@FabrizioPati-i6f7 ай бұрын
@@waldolydecker8118 Your reasoning is reasonable from a basketball perspective, but Indiana's top management is faced with a dilemma; keep Clark's fans happy and collect $ or give Sides carte blanche and try to get the season back on track
@meydallas7 ай бұрын
@user-xk9dl8xw8l I completely agreed with you; I think that Christie Sides'hands are tied by the Fever's owners; they want to make the most money possible, so therefore they want Clark on the court all the time even though she's a turnover machine, and doesn't play defense. If I was Aliyah Boston, I would ask for a trade. Aliyah Boston was the biggest reason Indiana improved last year. Even though she came to the league as a generational talent who had won everything at the college level, Aliyah Boston wasn't the leader in Indiana last year; Kelsey Mitchell was bc Boston was a rookie. I know for sure that Sides was thinking of doing the same thing this year with Clark, which would allow her to learn behind Boston, Mitchell, and Nalyssa Smith, but Clark's fans and Indiana's owners won't allow that to happen. What they don't understand is that they're putting too much pressure on the girl, and that might ruin her career.

If you really understand basketball and not caught up in fandom, you can see why Caitlin still needs to develop . This is not Iowa, these are grown women . She is not physical enough going into the paint. Her on man and even help defense is poor and she needs to get set up more as a shooter. And honestly she complains too much on ticky-tack contact for fouls . Look at Ray Allen , Reggie Miller and Steph how they constantly would run off screen . The dribble , dribble step back is not going to work at this level, they are too fast defensively on the close . She needs better coaching and time to get stronger and find her niche at this level . But it is hard with eveyone wanting her to be the best player in the league, these are the best players in the world . Hopefully she will evolve from this, same as MJ , Kobe and every other great player. Takes time. Her not being on the Olympics is the right move and will benefit her. Get out the spotlight , spend time with fame and rest and reflect .

It's the fact that the fever allows teams to get second chances to score they got to be better defensively
@geezyeskabante7 ай бұрын
Caitlyn has to be better defensively. The rest of the team can pull off switches and hedges. She gets exposed on defense when certain sets get called where she has to be locked in and communicating defensively. Her pf hedged off a screen and picked her man up. Caitlyn stood straight up like there wasn’t a wide open player if hers got switched on to. Next thing you know she finally turns around and the ball is already in the air. She doesn’t close out.
