Connecting to the PlayStation 5: XIM Matrix

I did something like that using a Orange pi Zero, GIMX and Chiaki (ps5 remote play), its cheaper and have more potential cause it uses linux but it is a bit more complicated.

Yes, it has to go to your router since it is working over PS5 remote play.

One ethernet cable goes from the XIM Matrix to the router. The other goes from the PS5 to the router. The PS5 can be connected over Wi-Fi but ethernet connection will ensure there is no delay when you are playing.

Yes, the XIM Matrix requires at least an ethernet connection to the XIM Matrix itself. Devices that connect over remote play will have a noticeable lag if using Wi-Fi and not ethernet.

You need any ethernet connection in order to use it. Lag is not an issue with the ethernet connection.

Yes, it works over remote play so it was not affected by the PS5 update.

What about if I connect the xim to a signal booster coming from my wall using an Ethernet cable

Should work as long as it is an ethernet cable. There may be more of a delay compared to directly to the router if the signal booster doesn't have as strong of a connection.

The XIM will need to be connected to an Ethernet cable. If the PS5 isn't connected, it will depend on your Wi-Fi strength. But there isn't any noticeable delay even if the PS5 is connected to internet.

You would need to get a long ethernet cable an extender to connect to, as the XIM at least needs to be connected to Ethernet in order for this setup to work.

You will need the ethernet running to the XIM for sure in order for it to work. The PS5 can be connected to Wi-Fi. It works best for both to be connected to ethernet, but you could set it up with only the XIM connected.

You technically only need 1 that goes to the XIM in order for it to work. However, it is best if you use 2, one to the XIM and one to the PS5. This will ensure there is no lag if your Wi-Fi is running slow.

If you want to use your PS5 controller to play, it plugs into the front. You do not need the PS5 controller for authentication using this method though since it uses remote play.
