The Ugandan diaspora needs to understand that it is not their responsibility to get their families out of poverty! Tradition has convinced folks to believe that being selfish with your money n pursuing your personal dreams is a bad thing even though you're the one putting in work to make yourself better!! American society pushes for individualism while most 3rd world countries advocate for collectivism. Every individual should develop a mindset to take care of themselves first whenever possible esp when it comes to your savings cuz it takes discipline to be able to save. We all need to learn to be comfortable with saving money. Don't always feel the urge n pressure to spend it on things that don't add value to it as if it is burning through your pockets!! Therefore, never let anyone make u feel guilty for not being able to help them out! If you feel u've enough savings to help them out, then Amen to that! If not, don't beat yourself up! Let every adult carry their own cross to the finish line!! Some folks are simply good at sitting on their asses waiting for someone to come and rescue them from their poverty mentality!! Make sure it is not u assigned to that rescue mission!! Real Talk!!
@RaeKembabazi11 ай бұрын
Thank you for your thoughts, though parents should always be helped and taken care of by their children. The rest of adults should work. Btw, when you keep helping/rescuing people from their problems, it disables them, they stop thinking for themselves or working because they know you're always their to come to their rescue.
@dollarmakana496911 ай бұрын
That's as per your own conception, thanks but still as a reasonable person who needs development, u can't see your sibling drop out of school with all his or her intellectual skills and just fold ur arms ! Pay that person's tuition, fight illiteracy first and later , let him go make money himself after acquiring Education . It's just an example.
@robbycarson499911 ай бұрын
@@dollarmakana4969 check this out! I ain't against helping out folks that need n deserve help, just like most of us have needed a helping hand at one time T in our lives. My argument is against those entitled relatives who think n walk around like it is yo obligation as a relative to take care of them n their kids, or extended family simply cuz u managed to bust yo ass and make yo way 2 the diaspora without any funding from them. In the meantime, they were sitting on their asses, busy making babies they couldn't afford to take care of! In life, we're all responsible for the repercussions of our actions. Its called growing the F-Up! Being my relative doesn't entitle u to none of my hard earned savings. I choose 2 help yo behind at my own discretion cuz I don't owe u jack!! The relative doesn't have 2 run their mouth about me if I choose not 2 help them based on my personal reasons. If I owe them, then that's a different ball game! Otherwise, I choose 2 help out of my own kindness period!!

In Africa, we don't look out for ourselves alone; we take family seriously. We look out for our own. I don't want to be the only rich person in my family. I want all my people to be financially well off so they can take care of themselves. American individualism doesn't work in Africa because these are two different societies. We value family here and they don't really value family. It doesn't make sense to be living a full big life while your people are beggars and homeless. I can't even enjoy happiness in my own riches. I want to work and make money to look after my people. That's how we work in Africa and that's what we are!
@frankponsiano226910 ай бұрын
Thank you my sister for the beautiful ideas you shared with the genius intelligent man who survived the toughest life in Diaspora about 98% Africans are going through by themselves including their children generations to generations would definitely will go to held if they don't learn to change their lifestyles in order to dig themselves out of deep Pit.

Great video…but can I just correct something….British people are truthful is such a sweeping statement. I live here believe me I know what I’m talking about. Our former Prime Minister Boris Johnson was such a liar that in the end his own party fired him because it was just way too much. This man is inspirational….amazing story.

But something is amiss here. What kind of visa did he have when he first went to the UK? That will answer many questions I have. You cannot get a working visa to go to the UK to work as a security guard. Not today, not 23 years ago. They give out professional visas only. Security guard is not one of them. If he had a working permit right away when he first entered the UK he could have worked in a different job that paid him more. Those who work those kinds of jobs have overstayed their visas and cannot go back and forth to their home countries like the way he was able to do. Also to create a living in the UK that will allow you to be able to go back and forth to your home country if you did not enter with a working visa is not that easy. For him to work as a security guard and be able to have a place to stay and keep going back and forth to Uganda he must have another income to support that and not from a security guard only. First it takes years for one who works as a security guard to even be able to afford to take a vacation, nevertheless to go back and forth to another country like the way he is saying. Okay after putting that aside now my big question is this: what are his parents doing for living? Or he has a great uncle working in the Government? We see so many people who work in the Government steal money and start to do something and claim that their kids who are living abroad are the ones sending them that money. They are doing money laundering and making us who live abroad look like fools that we are not working hard enough or we party a lot and spend all our money while the story behind where they get their capital is totally different. I won't believe anything he is saying until I know what kind of visa he had at 19 when he first entered the Uk that allowed him to work right away and be able to go back and forth to Uganda. Also I will understand if he says that he came up with the idea and someone else is behind that or if he says he was able to secure a loan in Africa to develop all those houses if not and you guys keep believing this story then I have a bridge to sell for anyone who wants to buy it should contact me.

Who told you that he owes you an explanation? If you don't believe, move your pumpkin head away from his video. This is the kind of mindset killing Africans. Poverty makes believe failure than success 😮

@ConnectWithUganda They are the ones who decided to post on the internet for the whole world to see. They should never post something that is half baked. I am not from Uganda. I don't know anything about him. This story somehow popped up on my TL and I decided to listen.This story is good for those who have never been to the UK and don't know how the immigration laws work and don't know how high the cost of living is. I was just saying from what I heard from this story that it doesn't add up and this is deceiving young Africans.
