Music dance and boat racing at the annual currach festival in An Spidéal, County Galway.
Male and female competitors battle it out to see which boat is the fastest during the currach racing festival in An Spidéal. The weather held up for this year’s Féile na gCurachaí, and crews from all over Connemara and even as far south as County Kerry display their skills, strength and speed. The quay in An Spidéal is the place to be, and the higher up you go the better vantage point you’ll have.
Spectators are also treated to live traditional music and sean-nós dancing at an Aeríocht which is taking place adjacent to the pier.
Other events have been taking place during the Féile too. At a céilí on the Friday evening of the festival, Bríd Ní Chualáin from Indreabhán was chosen as Banríon na Féile (Queen of the Festival).
