Great performance. Her voice spectacular after the horrific things she had to go thru including losing her voice. It had to be very traumatic for her. No one can sing like Connie Francis

I want Connie Francis to watch this video.

Connie sang many of her songs in Japanese, she didn't know the language sang it phonetically. Many Japanese said her pronunciation was impeccable, no American accent. Connie said it's pretty easy to sing various languages phonetically and Japanese was the easiest. Overall you can see she has a huge fan base in Japan. I wonder when Connie was in Japan, many people assume she spoke their language fluently and would then ask Connie zillion questions (like all fans do). However, when I first met Connie, I couldn't get one question out of my mouth.

In Japan, Neil Sedaka, Paul Anka,and Connie Francis have been popular as well as Elvis Presley since1950s. And also they have lots of fans more than Edward Cochran, Everly Brothers,Chuck Berry and other singers.

Thanks for uploading this video. I read Sazanami did all the translations for Connie, that is all I know, very impressive to select words to match the songs.

I have never seen this particular clip so thanks for sharing, my guess is that this is from aprox. 1989/90 or so when Connie's voice was REALLY back - she is totally in top form here. There were times in previous clips when her voice wasn't always quite up to par (when she was first making her comebacks in the earlier 1980's her full voice wasn't always with her) -

This was in the mid-1980s (around 1985) when she made a comeback and was indeed back to top form--unfortunately when her marriage to Bob Parkinson failed shortly thereafter, she again suffered well publicized setbacks. Her return again in 1989 at the Diplomat Hotel was a triumph.

Yes, I remember when she married him and sort of announced it on (I think) HOUR Magazine TV show - and she sang to him "I Found My Miracle in You" and unfortunately the marriage was short-lived. I've seen her in concert many times, and although I wasn't at the Diplomat in Florida I saw her that same year In Las Vegas at the Alladin and she was in great voice - her dad invited me to her Hotel Party, it was indeed a thrill to be there - I brought her a cranberry Juice (she really doesn't drink) from the Bar and her mom said to me "don't spill it on the Carpet, we don't live here!" (I didn't really think they lived at the Alladin Hotel!) - have seen her many times since then, and of course she really doesn't perform any longer but has A new Book out - will have to get that - thank you Charles for your info.

I love Connie Francis singing "Where the Boys Are" but I can't sing it coz it's a girl's song so I just contented myself hearing Connie singing that song. Well dats was during the 50's when I'm growing up.

A “girls song”? Why does that matter? If you like it, sing it 🤷♂️ I do
@leolim35716 жыл бұрын
It was in 1980, not 1989. She was then 43. What her worldwide fans little knew or did not remember was that even way back 20 years before that, in November 1960, she recorded "Where The Boys Are" in Japanese, titled "Atashi-no". That was the same time when it was done also in 5 other languages - German, French, Italian, Neopolitan, and Spanish. Neil Sedaka wrote the song for her in the film. She is 81 this year.

Wonder how old she was here - she is about 82 now - it's a shame she is not in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame - i think they have something against Italians or just her so sad - she belongs there

I'd guess 1990. She produced the same repertoire at The London Palladium in Nov 1989, which was fraught with problems, then did a successful repeat in the US 6 months later, about mid 1990. Don't Break The Heart / Where The Boys Are have been sung in Japanese for the home audience, but much of the rest is exactly what I heard in 1989.
