This is real vintage Toast of the Town! At the start of her career, after winning a talent contest, Connie was hired by Harry James. She became the featured singer with the Abbott and Costello Show during the 1940's, before joining the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Among many other achievements, she sang in command performances for three U.S. presidents: Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson. "Stormy Weather" was introduced by Ethel Waters at the Cotton Club in 1933, and was written by Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler. It became a standard recorded by many singers while strongly being identified with Lena Horne over the years.

Connie Haines was one of the first white singers to record for Motown records. She recorded several songs written by Smokey Robinson. In 1965 she recorded the first version of "For Once in My Life", which was later a hit for Stevie Wonder in 1968.
